Notizen des Weinguts: „0.87 acre. « Les Combes » is located on the edge of Saint-Aubin which borders Chassagne-Montrachet. The vineyard sits in a valley, just below the Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru vineyard « Les Chenevottes ». Soils are limestone and calcareous clay with a high clay content. Les Combes represents the seamless combination between delicacy and richness that is comparable to its neighbour, the Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru « Les Chenevottes ». Fresh fruit, like apricot or lemon emerge on both the nose and palate, and a stunning finish. To be served at 10-12°C (50-54°F). Ageing potential: 5-7 years.“
- 89-92 Punkte, BURGHOUND, Allen Meadows: „Here the wood is more prominent though not invasive on the markedly floral-suffused aromas of essence of pear, citrus confit and a hint of wet stone. There is good volume to the sleek, refined and minerally middleweight flavors that culminate in a balanced and persistent finish where the wood slowly resurfaces. Drink: 2027+“
Producer note: There are big changes at this domaine as Philippe Colin has ceded a large part of the domaine to his son Simon (see immediately below for the details) in much the same way that his father Michel did when he split the domaine between he and his brother Bruno (see also above). Briefly though, Simon will be taking over roughly two-thirds of the vines, but Philippe will retain the more prestigious white vineyards, which is again exactly what Michel did some years ago. As is usually the case, Philippe was again at his domaine in South Africa preparing for the harvest. His assistant Emmanuel presided over the tasting and briefly noted that the "harvest began on the 21st of September and we brought in ripe and clean fruit though not much of it. Average potential alcohols were quite good at about 13% and we aged the wines exclusively in 500L barrels. In addition to the parcels that went to Simon, there was too little fruit to make a cuvée of En Remilly." Notizen des Weinguts: | Vineyards: « Le Charmois » parcel is located at the edge of Saint-Aubin, close to the Premier Cru vineyard in Chassagne-Montrachet, « Les Chaumées ». « Le Charmois » is only 33 feet from Philippe Colin’s other Saint-Aubin wine, yet their soils are markedly different. Two plots of vines (20 years and 60 years old) are set in limestone soils. Tasting notes: Rich and very expressive nose, with light vanilla notes. The taste reveals a delicate minerality and structure. Medium to full bodied, and with a great acidity, this 1er Cru has a long and persistent length. To be served at 12°C. Ageing potential: 5-7 years. |
