- 90-93 Punkte, BURGHOUND, Allen Meadows: “A cool, pure and airy nose reflects notes of the essence of white orchard fruit, lemon-lime and subtle oak. There is again and really lovely texture to the vibrant and highly seductive middleweight flavors that also conclude in a clean, bone-dry and impressively long finale where a touch of bitter lemon character can be found. This is surprisingly powerful and a wine that should age gracefully. Drink: 2028+“

Producer note: There are big changes at this domaine as Philippe Colin has ceded a large part of the domaine to his son Simon (see immediately below for the details) in much the same way that his father Michel did when he split the domaine between he and his brother Bruno (see also above). Briefly though, Simon will be taking over roughly two-thirds of the vines, but Philippe will retain the more prestigious white vineyards, which is again exactly what Michel did some years ago. As is usually the case, Philippe was again at his domaine in South Africa preparing for the harvest. His assistant Emmanuel presided over the tasting and briefly noted that the "harvest began on the 21st of September and we brought in ripe and clean fruit though not much of it. Average potential alcohols were quite good at about 13% and we aged the wines exclusively in 500L barrels. In addition to the parcels that went to Simon, there was too little fruit to make a cuvée of En Remilly."
