Medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, with good concentration, ripe, powdery tannins and a seamless, integrated profile for such a young Lynch-Bages, it shows considerable promise. The blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot incorporates more Merlot than usual, reflecting relative yields in the vintage more than any stylistic shift.“

It’s almost understated at first, but it opens wonderfully in the glass – quintessentially Pauillac. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, quite concentrated that is counterbalanced by a fine bead of acidity. The saline note on the finish is superb, lingering in the mouth. What an absolutely delicious Lynch-Bages fort he long term.“

In so many vintages, Lynch-Bages is a wine of elegance and finesse. Those qualities may emerge here too, in time. Black cherry ,plum, espresso, licorice and lavender add to an impression of brooding intensity. Formidable tannins will take years to soften. The 2020 is a gorgeous wine, but it is also a very atypical Lynch.“

Deepest crimson. Dark, rich and pure-fruited aroma of black fruit. There's also a darkly oaky note but it's surprisingly well integrated in such a young wine – shows the quality of the fruit. Dark, dense, chewy and almost savoury on the palate, dark fruit, dark spice, intense but not heavy. Really gorgeous without being voluptuous. Refined and long.“

(19/20). 21: Verkostungsnotiz von René Gabriel: Fassprobe. 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, 5% Petit Verdot. Sattes, extrem dichtes Purpur-Violett. Kirschiges Bouquet, Brotkruste, Röstnoten, viel Pflaumen, Cassis, Brombeeren und eine tolle Cabernetwürze aufzeigend. Im Gaumen stoffig, satt, kompakt und logischerweise noch deutlich adstringierend. Zeigt eine dramatische Konzentration und deutet, vermutungsmässig, in Richtung Lynch 2000+. Das wird was! Braucht aber Geduld. Drei Mal in der gleichen Woche auf dem Weingut an verschiedenen Tagen degustiert. Und dann mit Überzeugung aufgerundet. 20/20 kaufen und warten!“

A blend of 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot, and the rest Cabernet Franc, aged in 75% new barrels, this inky hued beauty boasts a ripe, powerful, full-bodied style that carries serious concentration as well as building, ripe, velvety tannins. While it doesn't have the elegance of the 2019, it brings beautiful cassis and blackberry fruit, lots of spice, graphite, and lead pencil aromatics, terrific balance, and a blockbuster finish. It's going to need at least a decade and will have 40-50 years of prime drinking.“

First vintage in new winery.“

Am konzentrierten Gaumen mit cremiger Textur, fein körniges Extrakt, perfekt balancierte Rasse, dichte Muskelstränge umspannen den perfekt geformten Körper. Im gebündelten sehr langen Finale ein Feuerwerk von kleinen schwarzen Beeren, tiefschürfende Terroirwürze und typische St. Estèphearroganz. Die (scharfen) Krallen wirken schon leicht abgerundet, trotz dieser unglaublichen puren Konzentration! Das erst Mal, das Petit Verdot den Weg in den finalen Blend fand. Kaufen!"
