- 93 Punkte, JEB DUNNUCK: „One of those wines that punches well above its price point, the 2018 Château Charmail comes from the northern part of the Médoc and is a mix of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot brought up in mostly used barrels. Beautiful darker currants and cassis fruits as well as tobacco, chocolate, and damp earth give way to medium to full-bodied 2018 with a plush, rounded texture, a terrific mid-palate, silky tannins, and a great finish. It's a gorgeous wine and I think even a step up over the 2016. „Enjoy bottles any time over the coming 10-12 years. 2021-2033

- 93 Punkte FALSTAFF, Peter Moser: „Dunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Zart nach Vanille und Kokos, schwarze Beerenfrucht, feine Nuancen von Edelholz. Komplex, süßes Brombeerkonfit, etwas Nougat, integrierte Tannine, elegant und anhaftend, zarte Röstaromen im Finale gute Länge, verfügt über Reifepotenzial.“

- 89-91 Punkte Robert Parkers WINE ADVOCATE, Lisa Perrotti-Brown: "The 2018 Charmail comes from the lieu-dit Charmail in Saint-Seurin-de-Cadourne. The blend is 39% Merlot, 37% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Cabernet Franc and 11% Petit Verdot. Aging is projected to run 12 months in 30% new oak barrels. The rest of the wine is aging in 17-hectoliter concrete eggs and 500-liter barrels. Deep garnet-purple colored, it gives up very spicy notes of cracked black pepper, cumin seed and cloves over a core of warm plums, blackcurrant cordial, underbrush and a waft of cedar. Medium to full-bodied, it has a firm, grainy line cutting through the muscular fruit, finishing with a lively herbal lift."

- 88-91 Punkte VINOUS, Antonio Galloni: "The 2018 Charmail is bold, powerful and quite expressive. Lifted floral notes, pine, mint, blood orange and spice give this Haut-Médoc much of its perfumed, lifted personality and elegant feel. This mid-weight Haut-Médoc has much to offer. The blend is 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. Tasted three times."

- 17 Punkte Rene Gabriels BORDEAUX TOTAL, Andre Kunz: "Kunz Fassprobe 19: (36.7% Merlot, 36.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17.6% Cabernet Franc, 9.2% Petit Verdot) Seidenes, frisches, fein cremiges Bouquet, blaue und schwarze Beeren, Nougat, fein Lakritze. Ausgewogener, eleganter, frischer Gaumen mit feiner Frucht, gutem Tannin, kräftiger, süsser Aromatik, klassischer Struktur, langer, feiner Abgang."
