- 92 Punkte und Cellar Selection WINE ENTHUSIAST, Roger Voss: "The flagship of the estates owned by Jean Guyon, this cru bourgeois has produced an impressive wine in this vintage. Rich and structured it is packed with black fruits, sweet tannins and an ageworthy structure. Drink this wine from 2023."
- 90 Punkte VINOUS, Neal Martin: "The 2016 Rollan de By has a tightly wound bouquet with layers of blackberry, bilberry, cedar and light crushed stone aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, crisp acidity, finely proportioned with a crisp bead of acidity. This is a slightly more classically styled Rollan de By with a lovely pencil shaving tinged finish that keeps you coming back for more. Excellent."
- 90 Punkte DECANTER, Jane Anson: "This is a rich, powerful Jean de Guyon signature, with old school punch. It's an excellent wine, enjoyable, fleshy and sexy. You can feel the high amount of clay-based, powerful Merlot and the oak finessing. Part of me totally admires Guyon for sticking to his guns and his signature style, as his wines have that kerb appeal in spades. My only reservation is distinguishing terroir personality. Blend is 70% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc and 10% Petit Verdot, aged in new oak barrels. Drinking Window 2025 – 2040"
- JANCIS ROBINSON, Richard Hemming: "70% Merlot, 10% Petit Verdot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc.
Coffee, chocolate, spice, plenty of fine chalky tannin on the palate that leaves a dry, lightly abrasive feel. Needs some age, because the richness of flavour deserves it."
- 91 Punkte JAMES SUCKLING: "Aromas of blackberries and blueberries and some asphalt and hot-stone character. Medium body with a pretty core of berries and licorice. Firm finish. A blend of merlot, cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and petit verdot. Needs time to open up. Try after 2020."
- Blind Tasted by Andreas Larsson, Best Sommelier of the world 2007: “Inky deep purple colour. Youthful and ripe nose with crushed berries, plum, dry spices, leather and tobacco. Dense palate with ripe tannin, some herbal and spicy notes, fresh and dark fruity with good length and a spicy finish.“
