It has a backward nose that is tightly buttoned down: hints of blackberry, briary and cedar developing with time. The palate is harmonious with fine tannins, good density here for a Langoa Barton with new oak beautifully interwoven and filling out the finish. This is an impressive Langoa Barton, one of the most under-rated crus in Saint Julien. It's one that will surprise a few people once in bottle."

Dense but plush, showing admirable ripeness for the vintage. Best from 2020 through 2035. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 5,000 cases made."

- 91 Punkte VINOUS Antonio Galloni: "The 2014 Langoa-Barton is pliant, open-knit and succulent. Sweet red berry, tobacco, licorice and dried flowers all develop nicely, but it is the wine's midpalate juiciness and suppleness that stand out. The oak and tannins could use a bit more time to settle down. Otherwise, this is very nicely done. Tasted two times."

- 93 Punkte FALSTAFF: "Changierendes Bukett: knapp reife Brombeere, dann auch etwas Waldhonig, schließlich Kaltmazerationsnoten. Auf einen kurzen weichen Auftakt folgt eine kräftige Dosis sandig-feinkörnigen Tannins, mineralisch und saftig grundiert, recht elegant fließend. Kompakter, feinnervig-straffer Wein mit etwas mehr Cremigkeit im Abgang als im Auftakt."

- 17 Punkte JANCIS ROBINSON: "Deep cherry red. Deliciously fragrant mix of dark fruit, rocks and a hint of cassis leaf, plus a light vanilla note. Very moreish, with terrific freshness yet balanced by pure dark fresh fruit. Extremely fine tannin texture yet well structured."

- 18 Punkte RENE GABRIEL: "54 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 34 % Merlot, 12 % Cabernet Franc. 60 % neues Holz. Tiefes Purpur, satt in der Mitte, Granatschimmer am Rand. Florales, würziges Bouquet, dunkle Pflaumen, zeigt eine schöne Dichte und Tiefe. Im Gaumen samtig, fleischig mit sehr guter Substanz. Die Anlagen sind sehr, sehr gut. Das wird (wieder einmal mehr…) ein grossartiger Wert. Ich setze ihn zu seinen besten Jahrgängen. Wobei der 2005er für mich dann doch bisher unerreicht blieb. (18/20). Kurz vor dem Abfüllen. Ein wirklich grosser, wenn auch (noch) leicht körniger Wein."

- REIFEPOTENZIAL WEIN.PUR: "Edelholz und Edelbitterschokolade über der schönen frischen Kirsch-Frucht. Das Tannin braucht noch etwas Zeit zum Schmelzen. Saftig und rassig, kommt dem Leoville Barton nahe."

Offering a rounded, supple, fruit-forward profile as well as perfumed notes of plums, cassis, licorice, and scorched earth, this medium-bodied beauty has sweet tannin and undeniably delicious, elegant style. It should drink nicely for 15 years or more. This cuvee is 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc raised in 60% new barrels.“
