Beschreibung: Der Kellerberg hat seinen Namen vom Dürnsteiner Kellerschlössl. Der Name ist deshalb auch vergleichsweise jung (1787), und wurde anscheinend als Sammelbezeichnung für eine Vielzahl an kleineren Rieden eingeführt, wovon zwei als Subrieden weiterhin erhalten und benützt werden.

Bodenprofil Kellerberg: Der Kellerberg ist aus Gföhler Gneis aufgebaut, ein Umwandlungsgestein das aus einem granitähnlichem Ausgangsgestein (Plutonit) umgeformt wurde.
Durch die südöstliche Ausrichtung des Kellerberges war die Riede während der Eiszeiten von den Westwinden abgewandt. Dadurch ist mehr Löss liegengeblieben als auf den Westseiten. Löss ist heute noch inselartig am Kellerberg vorhanden. Durch Erosion am Hang wurde das eiszeitliche Sediment mit Gföhler Gneis-Material vermischt. Dieser spiegelt sich auch in den dichteren Weinen des Kellerberges wieder.

Laut internationalem Credo die Paradelage schlechthin. Eine steile, karge und puristische Urgesteins-Terrassenlage, von Süden nach Südosten ausgerichtet, am Ausgang eines Seitentals, welches ein ganz spezielles Mikroklima schafft. Der Kellerberg bekommt schon frühe Morgensonne. Nachts sorgt kühle Luft aus dem Wald für die komplexe Textur und die fein nuancierte, meist exotische Aromatik dieses Weines. Im Herbst prägen große Temperaturunterschiede zwischen Tag und Nacht die Trauben. Honigmelone, Mango, Maracuja, Banane und vollreifer Pfirsich, klar getönte Mineralik als Mitgift des kargen Verwitterungsbodens und der extrem tief  wurzelnden alten Rebstöcke machen Weine aus dieser Lage einzigartig und eigenständig. Harvested at the very end of October, this is a highly elegant, finessed and balanced Felseneck with perfectly ripe, juicy fruit.
