- 94+ Punkte Robert Parkers WINE ADVOCATE, Willam Kelley: „The 2020 Grand-Puy-Lacoste is excellent, offering up aromas of cassis and plums mingled with pencil shavings, violets and loamy soil framed by a touch of creamy new oak. Medium to full-bodied, pure and fleshy, with lively acids, powdery tannins and good depth at the core, its supple, charming style belies considerable aging potential. It's a blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon and 24% Merlot.“

- 96 Punkte WINESPECTATOR, James Molesworth: „A tightly coiled Pauillac, with a blitz of iron and savory notes wrapped around a core of cassis, damson plum and black cherry. Sleek and tightly focused, with the iron note leaving a mouthwatering echo. Plenty tight through the finish, so patience is required. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Best from 2028 through 2042. 10,000 cases made.“

- 96 Punkte VINOUS, Antonio Galloni: „The 2020 Grand-Puy-Lacoste is every bit as captivating from bottle as it was from barrel. Rich and explosive to the core, the 2020 possesses tremendous energy and nuance right out oft he gate. Brihgt acids run through a core of ripe red plum fruit, blood orange, cedar and pipe tobacco. The 2020 is an absolute stunner.“

- 96 Punkte VINOUS, Neal Martin: „The 2020 Grand-Puy-Lacoste fulfils ist promise from barrel. It has a very sophisticated and complex bouquet with black fruit, pencil shavings and light estuarine scents, beautifully defined and focused. The palate has real intensity and concentration, the precision belying a very intense GPL not unlike the 2016 with a persistent graphite-infused finish that is just pure finesse. Magnificent.“

- 93-95 Punkte FALSTAFF, Peter Moser: „Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Einladende schwarze Herzkirschen, ein Hauch von Cassis und Brombeeren, feine Edelholznuancen sind unterlegt, ein Hauch von Kräuterwürze, attraktives Bukett. Saftig, rote Kirschen, frisch strukturiert, zarte Süße, seidige Tannine, mineralisch-salziger Abgang, etwas schwarzer Tee, gute Länge, sicheres Reifepotenzial.“

- 92-95 Punkte JEB DUNNUCK: „The 2020 Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste is a more fleshy, textured Pauillac that still plays in the concentrated, focused, structured style of the vintage. Ripe black cherries, currants, toasty oak, chocolate, and tobacco leaf notes give way to a medium to full-bodied, richly textured 2020 that has velvety tannins, good mid-palate depth, and a great finish. Do your best to hide bottles for 4-5 years and enjoy over the following 20-25 years or so.“

- 96-97 Punkte JAMES SUCKLING: „This full-bodied red builds on the palate in a fantastic way with tight, compact tannins that grow and grow on the finish. Plenty of blackcurrant and graphite character and a flavorful finish. Same level as the excellent 2016.“

Trinkfenster 2032-2050“

- 19 Punkte Rene Gabriels BORDEAUX TOTAL, Andre Kunz: „Konzentriertes, tiefgründiges, elegantes, dunkles Bouquet, schwarzer Cassis, Brombeergelee, Zedern, Pflaumen, Tabak, Korinthen. Dichter, vielschichtiger, eleganter Gaumen mit dichter, dunkler, samtener Frucht, viel feinem Tannin, eleganter, cremiger, fein muskulöser Struktur, vielfältiger, dunkler Aromatik, langer, dichter, frischer Abgang. 2026 - 2050“

Notizen des Weinguts: The 2014 blend for Grand Puy Lacoste has, once again a large proportion of cabernet sauvignon (82%) proving once more the potential of this vineyard to really express all the best characteristics and charm of the cabernet grapes. This wine has an impressive intense ruby red colour. The nose expresses ripe, concentrated black fruits, blueberries and blackcurrant liqueur, typically Grand-Puy-Lacoste, with a slight spicy, peppery note. On the palate the first impressions are of density and great precision, carrying on with ripe tannins, powerful and elegant. This 2014 possesses a beautiful balance and freshness with a long finish and an intense note of cocoa. We find in this wine the framework of the great vintages of Grand-Puy-Lacoste where the richness and complexity of the terroir, combine with the refined fruit and ripe tannins which are perfectly expressed.
