CHATEAU LABEGORCE ist einer der Aufsteiger aus Margaux!

Die Qualitäten der Weine sind enorm gestiegen. Diese Botschaft kommt auch bei Bordeaux Liebhabern immer mehr an, denn die Weine erfreuen sich steigender Beliebtheit. Die Weine von Chateau Labegorce haben einen sehr attraktiven Stil, strahlen immer eine gewisse Sinnlichkeit und Lebensfreude aus, mit süßem Extrakt, sanften Tanninen und toller Balance.

Der Jahrgang 2017 ist zur Zeit noch unter 30 Euro zu bekommen und erscheint preislich noch unterbewertet zu sein.

Der Großteil der 53 ha Reben wurde in den 1950er Jahren gepflanzt, Teile sind sogar älter als 100 Jahre alt. Gärung in Beton und Edelstahl, Ausbau in französischen Barriques für ca. 15 Monate, 50 % neue Fässer. Liegt im Herzen der Appellation Margaux, in Nachbarschaft von Chateau Giscours. Es ist in Besitz der Familie Perrodo, der auch Chateau Marquis d’Alesme gehört. 2005 wurde das Gut mit Labegorce Zede wiedervereint. Seither wurde viel investiert und das Chateau gehört sicherlich zu den interessantesten Aufsteigern der letzten Jahre.

- 93 Punkte JEB DUNNUCK: "Under the helm of Marjolaine de Coninck, who arrived from Fonplegade in 2009, this estate has been firing on all cylinders, and they've made a beautiful 2017 Chateau Labegorce. Based on 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot that spent 14 months in 45% new oak, its deep purple/plum color is followed by a complex, medium to full-bodied, seamless Margaux that has complexity as well as depth and richness. With lots of cassis fruit and notes of sandalwood and spice, they’ve done a fabulous job with the tannins, and it has a great mid-palate and outstanding purity. You’d be excused for drinking bottles today, yet it should benefit from short-term cellaring and evolve for 15 years. This estate covers 65 hectares (there are 53 hectares under vine) located just north of the town of Margaux, on the plateau just across the road from Lascombes. If you haven’t tried these wines in a while, now is an excellent time to give them another look. 2021-2036.”

- 93 VINOUS Antonio Galloni: "The 2017 Labégorce is powerful yet nuanced, and wonderfully complete. Cedar, tobacco, mint, dried herbs and licorice grace this wine of tremendous complexity. While it is towering in its size, richness and intensity, the 2017 is also surprisingly elegant. Creamy, ample and flavorful, this is a very good wine with rather pretty floral notes that grace the exquisite finish. 2025-2032."

- 92 VINOUS, Neal Martin: “The 2017 Labégorce is aged for 14 months in 45% new oak. This has an attractive bouquet with brambly red berry fruit, cedar and subtle dark chocolates scents. It is clean and focused. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, not the most powerful Margaux in this vintage, a little dusty on the finish but still, quite a stylish Labégorce that deserves some bottle age. 2022-2040."

- 92 Punkte DECANTER: "An excellent Labegorce, full of rich black fruits, textured and layered. A great success in the vintage, with a mouthwatering delivery that holds itself with confidence. It's not hugely intense, as is often the case this year, but makes up for it with a poised delivery and firm, juicy tannins. Drinking Window 2025-2038."

- 18 Punkte Rene Gabriel's BORDEAUX TOTAL, Andre Kunz: "Kunz Fassprobe 18: Dichtes, seidenes, frisches Bouquet, Erdbeeren, Kirschen, Zedern, Nougat, Himbeerkernen. Feingliedriger, eleganter Gaumen mit fein muskulöser Struktur, feinem Tannin, kräftiger Aromatik, langer, feinherber Abgang. 2025-2042."

-VINUM Bordeaux Extra Primeur 2017: „Ungemein rund und geschmeidig und elegant, seidiges Tannin, delikates, fruchtiges Finale: gehört zu unseren Lieblingen in diesem Jahr. 2024-2030.“

-92 Punkte Jeff Leve WINE CELLAR INSIDER: „Floral, black raspberry, espresso and earthy notes initiate a fresh, round, forward wine. This is soft, medium bodied with elegant textures and a sweet, ripe, fruity finish. Made from a blend of 46% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc and 6% Petit Verdot, the wine reached 13% alcohol. Thirty percent of the harvest was hit with frost.“

- WEINWISSER (2018): „Purpurgranat mit violettem Rand. Üppiges blaues Beerbouquet gepaart mit duftigen Cassisblüten und Veilchen, dahinter Lakritze und Holundergelee. Am mittleren Gaumen mit süssem Extrakt und molligem Körper, dahinter straffes, reifes Tanningerüst. Im gebündelten Finale ein voller Korb mit Heidelbeeren und stützender, feinnerviger Rasse. Ist auf gutem Weg! 2028-2048.“

- WEINWISSER (2020): "Dichtes Purpurgranat. Intensives Brombeerbouquet, dahinter duftige Veilchen, schwarze Johannisbeerdrops, Virginia-Tabak und Milchschokolade. Am molligen Gaumen mit cremiger Textur, Lakritze-artiger Mineralik und feinstoffigem Extrakt, getragen von einer perfekt stützenden Rasse. Im gebündelten Finale blaubeerige Konturen, helle Edelhölzer und Estragon. EIN ABSOLUTER BEST-BUY AUS MARGAUX, DER SICH ÜBER EINE WACHSENDE FANGEMEINDE FREUEN DARF. 2026-2046."

Its medium ruby hue gives way to lovely notes of blueberries, raspberries, flowers, sandalwood, and assorted baking spice cabinet-like nuances. Medium to full-bodied, with beautifully pure fruit and silky tannins, it's a wine that grows on you with time in the glass. It's not a blockbuster, but it exudes elegance and class as well as balance. Enjoy bottles any time over the coming 20-25 years or more. 2021-2046."

The wine is plush, rich and plump, with a long finish loaded with polished, sweet red fruits and silky textures. This should age for at least 2 decades easily. The wine blends 50% Merlot, 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot.“

- 18 Punkte WEINWISSER: "Tiefes Purpurgranat mit schwarzer Mitte. Sattes schwarzbeerigwürziges Bouquet, mit viel  Brasiltabak sowie exotischen Hölzern. Im zweiten Ansatz Cassis, Baumnuss und Lakritze. Am Gaumen mit seidigen Textur und engmaschigem Tanningerüst, perfekt reif und gut stützend. Im gebündelten, langen Finale überzeugt er mit Holunderessenz und Pflaumenhaut. Auf dem gleichen Niveau des grossartigen 16er! 2025 – 2045"

- 93 Punkte Robert Parkers WINE ADVOCATE, Lisa Perrotti-Brown: "The 2018 Labégorce is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot. It has 14% alcohol. Deep garnet-purple colored, it leaps from the glass with a beautiful perfume of kirsch, black cherry compote and cassis, plus hints of licorice, lilacs and baking spices. The medium-bodied palate is elegantly played with soft tannins and compelling freshness supporting the fragrant red and black fruits, finishing on a spicy note. 2023-2040."

- 93-94 Punkte WINE ENTHUSIAST, Roger Voss: "Barrel Sample. There are notions of some serious wood aging here, which are happily sustained by the black currant flavor and lively acidity. It will be a firm wine for many years before it opens up."

- 93 Punkte VINOUS, Antonio Galloni: "The 2018 Labégorce is a plump, juicy Margaux that will drink well right out of the gate. Succulent dark cherry, plum, spice, licorice, chocolate and new French oak are all kicked up in this decidedly opulent, heady Margaux. Soft curves and pliant fruit add to its raciness. Drink it over the next 10-15 years. 2023-2038."

- 93 Punkte VINOUS, Neal Martin: "The 2018 Labegorce has a very seductive bouquet of pure black cherries, blueberry and crushed floral scents. This is one of the more precocious 2018 Margaux, revealing an increasing floral element with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red and black fruit laced with tar and licorice. Very cohesive, tightening up toward the finish, which retains fine nuance and mineralité. 2023-2045."

- 93 Punkte DECANTER, Jane Anson: "2018 is the first year for eight vintages that this wine is back to being 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, after replantings have come on line. That helps, perhaps, with the lift it shows even in this extremely concentrated year. It's a lovely Labégorce, with some bouncy, chewy tannins alongside blue and bramble fruits and some spice. As it opens up, a more floral character comes out.
Harvested between 20 September and 15 October, producing a 35hl/ha yield - less from mildew and more a consequence of the frost in 2017 that affected growth in some areas. There were also some young Cabernet vines on gravel that over-concentrated. Aged in 40% new oak from six forests in Germany and Austria as well as France. 3% Petit Verdot makes up the blend.Drinking Window 2025 – 2038"

- 94 Punkte NEAL MARTIN: "Bottled in July 2017, the 2015 Labegorce has a gorgeous bouquet with perfumed red cherries, crushed violets and iodine, the new oak beautifully integrated, a Margaux will real panache. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannin, a keen line of acidity, fresh and vibrant with such a pretty floral finish that you would be tempted to open a bottle soon. Perhaps you could because the tannin ensures this is approachable, yet it undoubtedly has the substance and complexity to offer three decades of drinking pleasure. This is a superb Labegorce that comes highly recommended. Anticipated maturity: 2021 - 2048."

- 95 Punkte und "Editor's Choice" WINE ENTHUSIAST: "There is a tough, tannic core to this otherwise ripe and fruity wine. All to the good, as this will allow the bold, ripe wine to age well. Black-currant fruits are already showing their hand and will intensify, bringing in richness and a dense texture. Drink this wine from 2025."

Ein ganz bezauberndes Fruchtbouquet zeigend, Maulbeeren und Cassis, ein Hauch von Flieder gibt Frische ins besonders feingliedrige Nasenbild. Seidige Textur, hoch reife Tannine, welche eine verführerische Süsse ausstrahlen. Genial vinifiziert und auf dem Weg zur nächst höheren Punktezahl in seiner Reife."

- 94 Punkte JEB DUNNUCK: "A blockbuster from Margaux is the 2015 Château Labégorce and I was blown away by this beauty. To reiterate, the southern Médoc, and Margaux in particular, is the sweet spot in 2015. A blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot and the balance Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, with close to half the blend brought up in new barrels, its deep purple color flows to a beautiful bouquet of black cherries, blueberries, spice, and violets. With medium to full-bodied richness, a plump, layered, pure texture, ripe tannin, and impressive length, it’s a standout for sure. Give bottles a few years and enjoy over the following 15+."

- 93 Punkte Robert Parkers WINE ADVOCATE: "The 2014 Labégorce is one those "dark horses" of the vintage, a wine that has a prosperous future. It has a lovely, very pure and sensual bouquet with lifted redcurrant and wild strawberry scents that really evoke the essence of Margaux. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, well -udged acidity, good concentration with a satisfying raspberry preserve-infused finish that demonstrates superb persistence. I adored this Labégorce from barrel and now in bottle it does nothing to disprove my initial enthusiasm. Top Margaux ahoy!"

- 93 Punkte VINOUS, Neal Martin: "The 2014 Labégorce has a crisp well defined bouquet with blackberry and raspberry fruit, cedar and pressed flowers, and hints of pressed rose petals. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, fine acidity, harmonious with a mixture of red and black fruit towards the tender finish. I love the texture here. This is a sublime Margaux from a rejuvenated estate. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting."

- 18 Punkte RENE GABRIEL: "Extrem dunkles Purpur mit lila und violetten Reflexen. Nach so viele kalten und unnahbaren Margaux war es eine richtige Wohltat an diesem Bouquet riechen zu dürfen, feine Röstnote, reife Frucht, Maulbeeren und ein Hauch von Caramel, im Finale lang und aromatisch. Hat viel Spass bereitet. Und genau so viel Spass und Freude wird er in seiner Reife bereiten. Er gehört zu den Besten! Bravo! (18/20). 16: Kurz vor der Abfüllung nachverkostet. Viel blaubeerige Frucht, vor allem Cassis. Feine Textur, seidige Tannine. Ein ganz toller Margaux-Value der seine Primeurversprechen einhält."
