AUSGEWÄHLTES AUS SPANIEN           

Aalto 2019 @ 34,50 €
Bodegas Aaalto ist ein äußerst erfolgreiches und sehr beliebtesWeingut in Ribera del Duero. Das kongeniale Duo Javier Zaccagnini und Mariano Garcia ist für die großartigen Qualitäten verantwortlich. Garcia war von 1968-1998 leitender Önologe auf Vega Sicilia und verfügt über enorme Erfahrung und großes Können. Aalto steht für einen moderneren Weinstil, mit saftiger Frucht, sanften Tannine und – Dank alter Reben – Tiefgang und Komplexität.
100 % Tempranillo (Tinto Fino); 40-80 Jahre alte Reben; Handlese in kleine Kisten; sehr genaue Auslese; Ausbau für 18 Monate in französischen und amerikanischen Eichenholzfässern.
Für den Jahrgang 2019 liegen bislang noch keine Bewertungen vor. Frühere Jahrgänge wurden von der Fachpresse sehr hoch bewertet, in der Regel um die 95 Punkte.
-Notizen des Weinguts: „Deep purple red color. Notes of red fruits together with subtle aromas of spices coming from the wood emerge. AALTO 2019 is a very fresh and elegant wine. On the palate its broadness, structure and persistence are remarkable.“

Auch dieses Weingut aus dem Ribera del Duero gehört Mariano Garcia, unterstützt von seinen Söhnen Alberto und Eduardo. Mauro hat ca. 45 ha und wurde in den 1980er Jahren gegründet. Daher verfügt man über Erfahrungen, was die Lagerfähigkeit der Weine betrifft. Die Qualitäten sind kontinuierlich auf hohem Niveau.

Ausas
Xavier Ausas war nach Mariano Garciao von 1998 bis 2015 leitender Önologe auf Vega Sicilia. Seit 2015 arbeitet er als beratender Önologe und baute parallel dazu eine eigene, kleine Bodega im Ribera del Duero auf. Er nutzte sein Wissen und die hervorragenden Kontakte aus der Vega Sicilia Zeit um an erstklassige Weinberge für seinen Wein zu kommen. Zum Teil liegen die Weinberge sehr hoch, bis 950 m Seehöhe, mit einem Alter der Rebstöcke bis zu 95 Jahren. Es handelt sich um einen reinsortigen Temperanillo, Ausbau in französischen Fässern mit 225 und 500 l. Je nach Jahrgang werden um die 35.000 Flaschen produziert, also nicht allzu viel.

Combining Tinto Fino grapes from five villages between 780 and 900m, it's a subtle, refined red that carries its 15% alcohol with ease, showing chalky minerality, scented 35% new wood, tobacco and red berry fruit flavours and a long, stylish, lightly balsamic finish. Drinking Window 2022 – 2028.“

Los Astrales
Bis 2016 wurde Los Astrales (Ribera del Duero) von Eduardo Garcia, dem Sohn von Mariano Garcia, geleitet. 2017 übernahm Jose Hidalgo die Leitung. Es gehört der Familie Romera de la Cruz, Winzer in dritter Generation, gelegen im Norden des Ribera del Duero rund um Anguix. Es ist ein 100 % Tempranillo und der Ausbau erfolgte über 18 Monate in Barriques aus französischer (80 %) und amerikanischer Eiche (20 %), 30 % der Fässer sind neu. Angestrebt wird hier weniger Konzentration als ein eher kühlerer Ausdruck der Frucht, der immer vor dem Holz stehen soll.

Sei Solo
Das Weingut gehört Javier Zaccagnini, dem langjährigen Geschäftsführer von Aalto. 2018 ist er aus Aalto ausgestiegen und konzentriert sich jetzt auf sein alleiniges Projekt Sei Solo. Die Geschichte begann bereits 2007, mit 3 ha eigener Reben in La Horra, einer der besten Gegenden des Ribera del Duero. Angestrebt wird ein Weinstil mit viel Finesse, Nuancenreichtum und großer Eleganz. Die Weine sind etwas schlanker und sparsamer beim Holzeinsatz.

DER VERMUTLICH BESTE SAUVIGNON BLANC AUS KALIFORNIEN:
MERRY EDWARDS
1997 wurde der erste Wein unter dem Merry Edwards Label vinifiziert, es war ein Pinot Noir. Mit dem Jahrgang 2001 kam der erste Sauvignon Blanc auf den Markt. Die Winzerin Merry Edwards konnte zu dieser Zeit schon auf eine enorm lange Erfahrung als Weinmacherin zurückreifen. 2004 wurde sie zum Winemaker of the Year in der San Franzisco Chronicle gekürt. Über die Jahre folgten unzählige weitere Auszeichnungen, nicht nur für die Winzerin, auch für die Weine. Der Sauvignon Blanc taucht regelmässig in den Bestenlisten auf. 2019 wurde das Weingut vom familiengeführten (7. Generation) Champagnerhaus Roederer übernommen.

Dieser Wein genießt einen gewissen Kultstatus in den USA. In Europa war bisher immer recht schwer zu bekommen, gilt er doch als der vermutliche beste Sauvignon Blanc aus Kalifornien.

Als David Ramey 1996 während seiner Zeit bei Dominus die Chance bekam, etwas Chardonnay selbst auszubauen, hatte er bereits einen Master of Science in Oenologie in der Tasche und auf Weingütern wie Chateau Petrus, Simi Winery, Matanzas Creek und Chalk Hill Estate Erfahrungen gesammelt. Bald darauf begann er Trauben zuzukaufen, aber erst seit 2012 ist er im Besitz seines ersten eigenen Weinbergs. Für seine wegweisende Arbeit in Sonoma County, ist er im Januar 2022 als erster mit dem SONOMA COUNTY VINTNERS’S LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD ausgezeichnet worden: „David Ramey, owner and winemaker at Ramey Wine Cellars in Healdsburg, has been selected by Sonoma County Vintners to receive its first lifetime achievement award. „We wanted to honor an individual who has made a significant impact in our wine community, pioneered new techniques with groundbreaking work, elevated Sonoma County and put Sonoma County wines on the world stage,“ said Sonoma County Vintners Executive Director Michael Haney. „David Ramey is the perfect person to be our first ever Lifetime Achievement Award recipient. It's one of the wines of the vintage and is showing beautifully after four years. Of course, it's nowhere near ready to drink, but the tannins have an astonishingly vibrant, tactile quality against the palate. This is coupled with concentrated flavours of cassis, bilberry, charcoal, liquorice, deep woodsmoke and cedar. One for the cellar, and then some. 1% Petit Verdot finishes the blend. Der erinnert mich an die zwei legendären Jahrgänge 2009 (aufgrund der Fruchtintensität) und 2010 (aufgrund der Tiefe und Struktur). Gehört auf jeden Einkaufszettel."

- 19 RENE GABRIEL:  „Sattes dunkles Weinrot. Würziges Bouquet, rote Krischen, rotes Cassis, rote Rosen, Damassinepflaumen darin, Cakesfrüchte, Kokos- und erste Schokonoten. Im Gaumen butterzart, cremiges, süsses Extrakt, helles Malz, Pralinen, im Finale Lebkuchen und Spekulatiusnoten, sehr lang mit gleich viel Frucht wie Terroirwürze. Man spürt hier förmlich dass Christian Moueix mit diesem neuen Rennpferd im Stall einen guten Platz erreichen will im Pomerol-Rennen. Im Mai 2007 mit einer Reisegruppe der Académie du Vin verkostet. Als ich später fragte welcher Wein ihnen am besten gefallen habe, so war es weder Pétrus noch Trotanoy, sondern dieser unbekannte Providence. Ehrlich gesagt hat er mir noch viel besser gefallen als bei der Primeur-Probe (18/20) und lege jetzt noch einen Punkt nach. 2013-2028."

It’s not the densest or most age-worthy Saint-Emilion out there, but it has class and I guarantee it will put a smile on your face over the coming 7-8 years."
