Seit einigen Jahren ist das Weingut unter neuer Führung. Seither sind die Qualitäten des schon zuvor beliebten Gutes tatsächlich noch einmal deutlich angestiegen und auch konstanter geworden. Die Preise sind ebenfalls etwas hoch gegangen, aber ich denke, das neue Preisniveau ist angesichts der hohen Qualität angemessen und vertretbar.

- 94 Punkte DECANTER, Jane Anson: "The austerity to the tannins works in this wine's favour giving a juicy grip to the concentrated blackcurrant and bilberry fruits without strangling them. Excellent stuff, finishing up with liquorice and smoked coffee bean. This is an estate that has just powered to better and better wines over the past few years. Yields were 10% below the average of the past five years but still at 40hl/ha. Harvest September 16 through to October 1, finishing around 10 days earlier than the past two years. Consultants Michel Rolland and Julien Viaud. First vintage with Petit Verdot included in the main wine (2%), from vines planted in 2013. Tasted twice. Drinking Window 2026 – 2042"
- 95-96 Punkte JAMES SUCKLING: "Bright and perfumed with some chocolate, berry, sandalwood and cedar. Very elegant and fine, medium to full-bodied palate with very integrated tannins and refined, polished texture. The tannins melt into the wine. Long finish with serious structure. Vivid and refined. Class here. Very Bordeaux. 54% cabernet sauvignon, 42% merlot, 2% cabernet franc and 2% petit verdot."
- 94-96 Punkte JEB DUNNUCK: "Getting a legit "wow" in the notes, the 2020 Château Phélan Ségur looks to be another incredible wine from the team of Véronique Dausse. A blend of 54% Cabernet Sauvignon 42% Merlot, and the balance Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, it's a deep, almost inky-hued barrel sample offering gorgeous notes of crème de cassis, blueberries, damp earth, crushed violets, and graphite. With full-bodied richness, a round, layered texture, serious concentration, and building structure, this is the real deal and up with the gems in Sainte-Estèphe. While some wines show a softer, more forward style, this is firm, mineral-laced, and structured, and is going to reward a good decade of cellaring. The alcohol checks in at 13.5% with a pH of 3.7 and a whopping 88 for an IPT."
- 93-95 Punkte VINOUS, Neal Martin: "The 2020 Phélan Ségur has a very intense and almost Pauillac-like nose of blackberry, pencil box and cedar aromas, complex and mineral-driven. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins and plenty of black fruit laced with cedar and tobacco, quite sturdy and conveying more substance than recent vintages. This impressive Saint-Estèphe has great potential and might well represent the appellation's best value for money."
- 18+ Punkte WEINWISSER: "42 % Merlot, 54 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 2 % Cabernet Franc, 2 % Petit Verdot, 41 hl/ha. Tiefes Purpur mit opaker Mitte und zartem lila Rand. Dicht verwobenes Bouquet mit Wildkirsche, Veilchenparfüm und Brasiltabak, dahinter Lakritze, Szechuanpfeffer und edle Cassiswürze. Am konzentrierten Gaumen mit cremiger Textur, fein körniges Extrakt, perfekt balancierte Rasse, dichte Muskelstränge umspannen den perfekt geformten Körper. Im gebündelten sehr langen Finale ein Feuerwerk von kleinen schwarzen Beeren, tiefschürfende Terroirwürze und typische St. Estèphearroganz. Die (scharfen) Krallen wirken schon leicht abgerundet, trotz dieser unglaublichen puren Konzentration! Das erst Mal, das Petit Verdot den Weg in den finalen Blend fand. Kaufen!"

The palate has nice harmony with ripe yet fresh dark fruit, crushed black currant and sage flavours with super fine and polished tannin, good density and weight with a long and digest finish.“

- 94-96 Punkte Robert Parkers WINE ADVOCATE, Lisa Perrotti-Brown: "The 2020 Laroque is a blend of 99% Merlot and 1% Cabernet Franc, aging for around 16 to 18 months in French oak barrels, 50% new. The alcohol is 14.5%. Displaying a deep purple-black color, it slowly unfurls in the glass to reveal fantastically opulent notes of Indian spices, rose oil, dark chocolate and licorice, over a core of blueberry preserves, stewed plums and mulberries, plus a hint of dried mint. The medium to full-bodied palate is packed with layers of black and blue fruits, accented by exotic spices and supported by a racy backbone and velvety tannins, finishing long and perfumed. Gorgeous."
- 93-95 Punkte VINOUS, Antonio Galloni: "The 2020 Laroque is silky, sensual and polished right out of the gate. Crushed flowers, cedar, mint and sweet pipe tobacco meld into a core of red/purplish berry fruit. What I like most about the 2020 is its incredible finesse and impeccable balance. This is another terrific effort from Laroque under the leadership of technical director David Suire. Tasted two times."
- 93-95 Punkte VINOUS, Neal Martin: "The 2020 Laroque was cropped at 34hl/ha, picked September 21–30. It has a very composed bouquet of blackberry, wild strawberry and crushed limestone scents, beautifully defined with very well integrated oak. You could just nose this all day. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, blueberry and a judicious pinch of black pepper. This is very harmonious and as fresh as a daisy. Possibly the best Laroque that winemaker David Suire has overseen to date."
- 95-97 Punkte JEB DUNNUCK: "Possibly one of the best buys out there, the 2020 Château Laroque comes from a cooler, clay and limestone terroir on the eastern side of the appellation, and this is exactly what you wanted in this vintage. Revealing a vivid purple hue as well as stunning notes of blueberries, cassis, liquid violets, and white truffle, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a seamless, elegant texture, and gorgeous length on the finish. It plays in the more nuanced, elegant end of the spectrum yet still brings ample fruit, richness, and texture. It’s a stunning bottle of wine all about finesse and elegance. Tasted twice."
- 94-95 Punkte JAMES SUCKLING: "This is really focused and linear with tight, minerally tannins that are polished and energetic. It’s medium-to full-bodied with dark and blue fruit in the center palate. Long and focused."
- 18,5 Punkte WEINWISSER: "14.5 %-vol, ph: 3.44, 34 hl/ha Menge: –22% als letztes Jahr, Vergärung in Stahltank bei 26–28 Grad. Was für ein Duft nach frisch gepflückter schwarzer Johannisbeere, so rein und saftig, Veilchenparfüm und Alpenheidelbeere, dahinter dunkle Kirschkonfitüre, Lakritze und Palisander. Am Gaumen mit seidiger Textur, reifem Tanningerüst, herrlicher Extraktfülle und durchtrainiertem Körper. Im energiegeladenen Finale eine volle Ladung blauer Beeren, Schattenmorellen und dunkle Mineralik, endet mit mürber Adstringenz. Eine sehr gute Leistung, (noch) nicht ganz auf dem Niveau wie der grandiose 2019er."

Chateau Peymouton ist das Schwesterweingut von Chateau Laroque und vom gleichen Team viniziert.
70% Merlot - 23% Cabernet Franc - 7% Cabernet Sauvignon; 31 ha; Unterboden Kalkstein mit dünner Auflage reichhaltiger Lehm und tiefgründiger roter Lehm.

- 91-93 Punkte FALSTAFF, Peter Moser: "Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Feiner Nougat, zart nach Edelholzwürze, tabakig, schwarze Kirschen, zart nach Lakritze. Saftig, rotbeeriger Touch, elegante Textur, frisch strukturiert, feine Tannine, mineralischer Nachhall, bereits gut entwickelt."
- 90 Punkte DECANTER, Jane Anson: "Beautifully bright cherry colour. Slightly rustic tannins on the attack, with a bright cheerful feel as it unrolls through the palate, and sappy redcurrant and raspberry fruits. Same owner as Château Laroque, good early-to-medium-term drinking. Drinking Window 2023 – 2028"
- 91-93 Punkte JEB DUNNUCK: "Lots of brambly red and black fruits as well as leafy herbs and tobacco define the bouquet of the 2020 Château Peymouton. Medium-bodied, it has a nicely concentrated, rich, yet focused mouthfeel that brings plenty of tannins. Made by the team of Jean-Pierre Moueix and from a vineyard near Château Laroque, on the eastern, cooler side of Saint-Emilion, it will need 3-5 years of bottle age and keep for 10-15."
- 92-93 Punkte JAMES SUCKLING: "Lots of blackberry and dark chocolate with walnut and spice undertones. Medium to full body. Chewy finish. Yet, the tannins are fine and poised."
- 17,5 Punkte WEINWISSER: "Purpur mit opaker Mitte und zartem lila Rand. Betörendes Bouquet mit Heidelbeere, Schattenmorellensaft und dichtem Veilchenstrauß, dahinter Lakritze und Schokopastillen. Am vielschichtigen Gaumen mit weicher Textur, herrlicher Extraktfülle, stützendem Tannin und mittleren Körper. Im aromatischen Finale mit blaubeerigen Konturen, Rosenholz und Tabakblatt. 2026-2043."


CHATEAU PINDEFLEURS 2020 St. Emilion Grand Cru

Das aufstrebende Weingut der Familie Lauret hat 18 ha, mit ca. 35 Jahre alten Reben, 90 % Merlot und 10 % Cabernet Franc. Gelesen wird per Hand, vergoren in Edelstahl, ausgebaut in Barriques, davon ca. 40-60 % neue Fässer. Es gehört seit 2006 dem Paar Dominique Lauret und Richard  Mestreguilhen, dem auch Chateau Pipeau gehört. 2009 übernahm die sehr gut ausgebildete Tochter Audrey die Leitung der Produktion, 2016 kam auch Sohn Pierre dazu. Das Ziel der Familie ist es Weine zu vinifizieren, die gerne getrunken werden, Weine mit saftiger Frucht, Charme und Finesse.
Das Weingut befindet sich von Libourne aus kommend links von der Hauptstraße, ein Stück bevor man Richtung Dorf St. Emilion abbiegt, unweit von Chateau Quintus, am unteren Ende des Hügels, auf dem sich oben Chateau Angelus befindet.

- 93-95 Punkte Robert Parkers WINE ADVOCATE, Lisa Perrotti-Brown: "Made from 100% Merlot, the 2020 Les Gravieres has a deep purple-black color, rolling out of the glass with ready-for-business scents of plum preserves, baked black cherries and blueberry pie, plus hints of violets, clove oil and camphor, with a waft of tree bark. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers velvety tannins and a lively backbone to support the generous black and blue fruits, finishing long and spicy."
- 92-94 Punkte VINOUS, Antonio Galloni: "The 2020 Les Gravières is a powerful, bold Saint-Émilion loaded with intense mineral and savory notes that play off a core of inky dark fruit. Blueberry jam, gravel, smoke, lavender, licorice and cloves add gravitas. Les Gravières is another impressive wine in the trio of 2020s I tasted from proprietor Denis Barraud. I very much like the vibrancy and tension here. Tasted two times."
- Punkte JEB DUNNUCK: "Emerging from under the Denis Barraud umbrella, the 2020 Château Les Gravières checks in as 100% Merlot that’s still resting in 70% new French oak. It offers wonderful purity of fruit as well as classy oak, notes of violets and licorice, medium to full-bodied richness, and both richness and freshness. It’s certainly in the same ballpark as the 2018 and 2019 and is a terrific bottle of wine in the making. Tasted twice with consistent results."

- VINOUS, Antonio Galloni: "The 2020 d'Aiguilhe is bright, punchy and so expressive. Clean mineral accents cut right through a core of blueberry fruit. Graphite, lavender, spice and mocha linger on the clean, bracing finish. Medium in body and vibrant, Stephan von Neipperg's Côtes de Castillon is superb in 2020."
- 93 Punkte DECANTER, Jane Anson: "Violet reflections, great clarity of colour and immediate whoosh of salinity through the redcurrant fruits. Powerful and focused with bright berry flavours, it practically defines the term crunchy fruit, then softens to show creamier black cherry purée as it relaxes in the glass. Really a very tasty d'Aiguilhe from Vignobles Comtes von Neipperg. Extremely moreish. Harvest September 17 – 28, 30% new oak. Drinking Window 2023 – 2034"
