Offering up aromas of cassis, ripe berries, sweet soil tones and cigar wrapper, it's medium-bodied, fleshy and vibrant, with powdery tannins and an attractive core of fruit. A sleeper of the vintage, it offers a broad drinking window—and great value. 2021-2035“

Acquired by a team of consultant oenologists from the Oenoconseil laboratory in Pauillac, Fleur la Mothe in Saint-Yzans de Médoc occupies some 15 hectares of vineyards close to the Gironde, some three-quarters of which are clay-limestone, with the rest sand-gravels. Since 2012, the soils have been cultivated mechanically, and winemaking benefits from the accumulated savoir-faire of a team that consults on a considerable proportion of all the wines made in Bordeaux. Impressively deep and concentrated, with rich structuring tannins in more serious vintages in a style typical of the northern Médoc, Fleur la Mothe delivers terrific quality for a decidedly modest tariff.

The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins, and still that stony note infusing the black fruit. The “cool” finish lingers in the mouth. Excellent. 2023-2035“
