- 97 Punkte JANE ANSON: „Dark ruby velvet in colour, earthy and concentrated, showing concentrated and muscular Cabernet typicity with its cassis and bilberry fruits, ink, graphite and tar, softened by violet flowers, grilled sandalwood and cedar. Great quality, delicious, intense and drawn out, give it a few years to fully open up. 95ha, director Todd Devincenzi, winemaker Philippe Bascaules.“

- 96 Punkte DECANTER, Georgina Hindle: „Tobacco, dark chocolate and blackcurrants on the nose, something quite meaty and savoury about the nose too. Succulent and juicy, really quite lightly framed despite the concentration, tannins are well integrated and support the crisp blueberry and black cherry fruit. Supple with a nice energy and bounce, doesn't feel too hot or too much, balanced and harmonious. An enjoyably cool finish too - overall impressive construction and length. Super lively, juicy and delineated. Tobacco, cedar and liquorice mark the finish suggesting this needs time to age and soften but this has excellent potential and should age gracefully. Ageing 20 months in French oak, 50% new. Winemaker Philippe Bascaules.“

- 95 Punkte JAMES SUCKLING: „Crushed black and red currants with flowers such as red roses and violets. Full-bodied with layers of medium velvety tannins. Lovely depth and richness. Broad. Drink or hold.“

Notizen des Weinguts: The Inglenook Cabernet Sauvignon is a tribute to winemaker John Daniel Jr., who produced the much-heralded Inglenook 1941 Cabernet Sauvignon from vine cuttings brought to the property from Bordeaux by original founder Gustave Niebaum. Vintage Notes Excellent canopy growth protected the fruit during the short stints of summer heat that led to 2020’s early veraison. Harvest for this wine was fairly compressed, beginning with the Boardwalk Merlot block on September 7th, and concluding with Red Barn Clone 337 on September 28th. Practicing organic farming since the 1980’s, Inglenook was one of the first Napa Valley vineyards to be certified organic in 1994. Experimentation is embedded in Inglenook’s DNA, and within this ongoing evaluation, considerations of climate change, vine age, vintage and other factors reiterate that an estate of Inglenook’s caliber and quality is forever a work-in-progress. Winemaker’s Tasting Notes The 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon is striking in appearance, with its garnet color and youthful purple edge. The wine reveals vibrant expressions of crushed cherry, cedar, and red currant, as well as suggestions of forest floor and bay leaf. On the palate, the wine is medium bodied, exhibiting both considerable energy and elegance. Every glass of Inglenook Cabernet Sauvignon recalls the more than 140 years of Cabernet Sauvignon creation at Inglenook, taking you through the Chateau and its rich winemaking history that continues today.
