- 94 Punkte DECANTER, Sarah Ahmed (02/2024): „This veritable kaleidoscope of aromas and flavours hails from Elderton’s Eden Valley, Greenock and Nuriootpa vineyards. Soaring Eden Valley black pepper and florals charm from the get-go, with red liquorice, star anise, clove, dried herbs and a lick of espresso chiming in on the palate. Lively acidity teases out the fresh-picked, palate-staining blueberry and blackberry fruit. A fine fretwork of mineral tannins embeds the flavours. GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY. 2024-2033“

- 94 Winepilot: „This is one of the best examples of this wine I have tasted. It’s so soft and supple, with flavours that are both exotic and substantial. Brings together fruit from the Greenock area providing punch and tannin, while that from the Nuriootpa vineyards adds a sweet, lush fruit component. It all comes together with a mix of new and used French and American oak. Medium bodied and thoroughly delicious.“

- 94 Punkte Natalie MacLean: "Elderton 2021 Shiraz is produced from estate grown grapes sourced from Elderton's Eden Valley, Greenock and Nuriootpa vineyards, from vines between 15 and 100 years of age. Fragrant with pink and blue florals, dark cherry, blackberry, blueberry, dried herb, anise, baking and pepper spice flavours with a kiss of espresso and dark chocolate on the finish, this is an intensely vibrant and gorgeous Barossa Valley red framed by fine and structured juicy tannins. AMAZING VALUE at $25, enjoy it through 2033."

- 93 Punkte und „Special Value“, Halliday Wine Companion, James Halliday (10/2024): „From estate vines aged two to 127 years, picked between 23 February and 9 April. Matured for 24 months in used American (dominant) and French puncheons. In the big, bold and luscious style that is the indelible mark of Elderton. 2024-2041."

- 92 Punkte JAMES SUCKLING: " Full-bodied classicism. Archetypal Barossan shiraz, hitting all the marks: power, polished oak, florals, very ripe darker to bluer fruit tones and a lick of heat across a sumptuous finish. What's not to like? Drink or hold. Screw cap.“

Notizen des Weinguts: Post fermentation the parcels were put to a combination of new and used French and American oak for malolactic fermentation and maturation before blending. Made from our three vineyards, this is truly an expression of Barossa, from one side to the other! We love the way these three vineyard sites work together to create a wine with structure, fruit and freshness. - Jules Ashmead & Brock Harrison Style: Full bodied, rich, classic Colour: A vibrant dark purple Aroma: Red liquorice and a hint of spiced plums Palate: Vibrant red fruits and gamey depth with a touch of spicy cloves leading to a seamless finish. Juicy long tannins laced with vibrant red berry sweetness and oak spice. Vintage notes: 2021 signalled a welcome return to a more ‘normal’ season, with decent winter rains and only a very mild frost in the spring of 2020. A mild summer without heat spikes allowed for excellent ripening conditions leading into harvest. The apparent lack of rain meant keeping a close eye on vine health to ensure water requirements were met. The return to decent yields afforded the opportunity to use heading boards and a little barrel ferment to add complexity to this wine.
