Harvesting by hand. No fining; very light filtering.
Le Clos” is a plot surrounded by a wall, located in the park at the front of the domaine. Originally planted as a garden, it now produces a very rich wine with grilled notes and accents of white fruits such as pears. Always very lively, it has a lemony finish that makes it a good candidate for ageing 5–10 years.

- Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy: "A touch more colour than the straight Monthelie, just under 20% new wood (from Chassin), and showing a slightly fuller and oakier approach. A light lemony touch on the palate which is not too full though then along comes the oak. Needs time to knit."

- James Suckling: Still very youthful, but there’s some real finesse in the bright nose of candied lemon and flint. Very clean and fresh, the balance of restrained creaminess, minerality and fine tannins already impressive. Rather long, bright and flinty finish. Should develop well. From organically grown grapes. Unfiltered. Drink or hold."

Notizen des Weinguts: At an altitude of 365 metres, Monthelie overlooks the Auxey-Duresses and Meursault valleys. The Changarnier family has lived in this village for several centuries, founding the domaine in 1720. Now, Claude and Antoine Changarnier continue this wine-growing tradition. Their professional careers carried them far from the wine world, but their Burgundy roots remain anchored in this terroir. The domaine now extends over the communes of Meursault, Monthelie, Auxey-Duresses and Pommard. Highly morcellated, it has an area of 5.5 hectares and produces about 25,000 bottles a year from ten appellations. Since 2004, Claude and Antoine Changarnier have worked on developing the Domaine Changarnier, to regain its pride of place. They are helped by Fabrice Groussin who, with his experience at Chassagne-Montrachet, is one of a new generation of vignerons that believe in a modern viticulture which respects the terroirs. The Domaine’s philosophy is based on respecting the terroirs so as to bring out each wine’s distinctive qualities. The technical processes favour a minimum of inputs. Each operation is the result of careful consideration with the utmost respect for the environment. This begins with the vine. Soil tillage is generalised to stimulate the active life of the soil. Organic products are added when necessary to help control the vigour of the vine. Using environmentally-friendly pest control methods means vineyards have to be checked daily. Each vine is an individual living being that is also part of a community. Since 2019 the wines are Organic Certified (by ECOCERT). For the grapes and wines as well, respect for the product remains a priority. Harvested by hand into crates, the grapes are sorted and vinified using a minimum of inputs. Ageing takes place over 12 months in barrels, 15 – 20% of which are new. The wines are then matured in vats before bottling during the winter.
