Interessantes Weingut, Schwesterweingut von Chateau Laroque, sehr gut und preiswert!

- 18 Punkte WEINWISSER: "72 % Merlot, 22 % Cabernet Franc, 6 % Cabernet Sauvignon.

- WINESPECTATOR, James Molesworth: „Ripe and forward, featuring a nice lush feel to the mix of cassis and cherry paste flavors, with licorice root and singed alder notes. Nicely focused finish. Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink now through 2028. 9,166 cases made.“

- VINOUS, Antonio Gallni: „The 2019 Peymouton is a soft, fruity Saint-Emilion to drink now and over the next few years, while the red berry fruit remains vibrant. This charming Saint-Emilion has much to offer in an immediate, up-front style that is quite attractive.“

- 91 Punkte DECANTER, Georgina Hindle: „Such an expressive nose, combining exotic fruits - pineapple and mango - with ripe oranges. Gorgeous. Rich on the palate but not heavy, with a lovely concentration of fruit flavours and enough acidity to keep things lifted. There's definite orange on the palate - both juice and zest - which is really appealing, fresh and vibrant. Easy, crowd-pleasing drinking. Drinking Window 2023 – 2034“

- 90 Punkte JEB DUNNUCK: „The 2019 Château Peymouton is a charming, classic Saint-Emilion offering outstanding darker cherry and mulberry fruits as well as subtle notes of leather, earth, and dried herbs. Nicely balanced, medium-bodied, and elegant, it's a fine, classic, thoroughly enjoyable 2019 to enjoy over the coming 10-15 years.“

- 91 Punkte JAMES SUCKLING: „A firm, savory young Bordeaux with tobacco, redcurrant and crushed-stone character, as well as some bark. It’s medium-bodied with solid tannins and a flavorful finish. Needs time to soften. Better in 2024.“

Notizen des Weinguts: Château Peymouton is part of the estate of Château Laroque, a historic Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Émilion located just 3.5 km east of the medieval village. Château Laroque, one of the largest estates of the appellation, dates back to the 12th century. Thanks to its strategic position atop a limestone plateau overlooking the Dordogne river valley, it acted as a key defensive stronghold to the nearby village. The vineyard itself was planted in the 18th century. The Beaumartin family acquired the property in 1935, and, in the 1960s, began modernizing the vineyard and winemaking facilities. In 1996, Château Laroque was granted Grand Cru Classé status for 27 hectares of its vineyard while the remaining 31 hectares gave birth to a new wine: Château Peymouton, Saint-Émilion Grand Cru. Château Peymouton is located on high plateau parcels of the estate (80-100 meters in altitude) that are composed in part of a thin layer of rich clay over limestone, and partly of deep, thick red clay. These soils contribute density and structure to the wine that nonetheless retains the elegance imparted by the limestone. Château Peymouton is managed by the same team and enjoys the same care and attention as Château Laroque. Harvest takes place based on the individual maturity of each parcel, and the wine is vinified gently with particular care given to the expression of fresh fruit. The wines of Château Peymouton express the elegance of this historic terroir in a vibrant, fruit-driven style that can be enjoyed after just a few years of cellaring.
