- 94 Punkte JAMES SUCKLING: „Ripe cherries, blueberries, pine needles, sandalwood, roasted espresso and toffee on the nose. Medium-to full-bodied with plush, round tannins. Rich, velvety and polished with excellent balance of fruit and oak spice. Try after 2024.“

- 94 Punkte DECANTER, Georgina Hindle: „Ripe red cherries and blackcurrants on the nose with a delicate floral fragrance. Chalky and mineral straight away with a wet stone clarity to the texture and flavours of pencil led, graphite and menthol. Super fresh with cool fruit flavours. Well packaged and balanced, nicely charming with tons of polish. Really delicious and understated, quietly confident. I love it. Drinking Window 2024 – 2038“

- 93 Punkte JEB DUNNUCK: „Checking in as 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc that's from a small vineyard on the upper plateau, the 2019 Château La Serre reveals a deep purple hue to go with an already complex nose of ripe red and blue fruits, leafy herbs, chalky minerality, and spicy oak. Rich, medium to full-bodied, balanced, and satisfying, it's well worth seeking out and will benefit from just a handful of years in the cellar and shine over the following 10-15 years or so. It's a complex, undeniably delicious Saint-Emilion.“

- 93 Punkte FALSTAFF, Peter Moser: „Dunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, zarte Ockerrandaufhellung.

- 91-93 Punkte WINE ENTHUSIAST, Roger Voss: „Barrel Sample. This is a fine, structured wine, showing class as well as fruitiness. Its juicy berry flavors are a fine harbinger of the wine's ripe, full future. There is good aging potential here.“

 - 91-93 Punkte VINOUS, Neal Martin: „The 2019 La Serre, the Saint-Emilion property owned by the d’arfeuille family and run by J-P Moueix, has been a little gem in their line-up in recent years. The Merlot was picked 23 to 25 September, the Cabernet Franc on 5 October before elevage in 50% new oak. This has a nice defined, vivacious and expressive nose with black cherries, iodine and hints of cassis. The palate is very well balanced with fine tannins, wonderful tension, not a deep or immensely structured Saint-Emilion, yet graceful and very harmonious on the finish. Superb.“

 - 92 Punkte WINESPECTATOR, James Molesworth:  „Solid, featuring a good, direct core of dark currant and plum fruit that has the rich, lightly roasted edge of the vintage, with sleek anise, apple wood and savory notes streaking through the finish. Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2023 through 2035. 1,825 cases made.“

 - 90 Punkte VINOUS, Antonio Galloni: „The 2019 La Serre is a powerful, dense Saint-Emilion. A burst of black cherry, plum, licorice, spice and tobacco hits the palate. There is plenty of fruit intensity, although some angularity remains in the contours. La Serre is best enjoyed over the next decade or so for ist boisterous, pleasantly hearty personality.“

 - 90 Punkte Robert Parkers WINE ADVOCATE, William Kelley: „Exhibiting aromas of cherries, plums, sweet berries and vanilla pod, the 2019 La Serre is medium to full-bodied, ample and seamless, with a generous core of succulent fruit and supple, melting tannins. This is a charming wine from a small, four-hectare vineyard located on Saint-Émilion's limestone plateau (near Château Trotteveille) that has recently undergone extensive replanting.“

 - 16,5+ Punkte JANCIS ROBINSON: 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc. Barrel sample.
Plenty of lift and vitality in the wine. Fresh and appetising on the nose with red fruits and spice to the fore. Smooth attack with fine tannins and texture following. Oak well integrated. Again, fresh and balanced on the finish. Limestone terroir shows.“

Notizen des Weinguts: This 7 hectare vineyard is situated along the edge of Saint-Émilion’s famous limestone terrace, just a few dozen meters from the center of this medieval town. The vineyard is planted on a south-facing limestone plateau (hence its name, “the greenhouse”) covered with a thin layer of clay and averages 35 years of age. M. Luc d’Arfeuille, the estate’s passionate owner, favors a traditional approach in both the vineyard and the winery and his methods ensure that this exceptional terroir is perfectly expressed in his wines. The soil is tilled manually to avoid the use of herbicides, and vineyard work is kept to the minimum to allow the vineyard’s natural character to shine through. Traditional interventions such as pruning and disbudding suffice to control yields. The estate has recently introduced some modern elements, such as pre-fermentary cold maceration and, more recently, optical sorting, to allow only the purest expression of this privileged terroir. M. d’Arfeuille and his team seek balance in all aspects of winemaking, pursuing the legendary elegance of the wines that have been produced on this historic land for centuries. The wines of Château La Serre are deep and generous with a streak of minerality.
