- Robert Parkers WINE ADVOCATE, William Kelley: „Produced by the team from Laroque, the 2020 Peymouton offers up aromas of sweet cherries, baked berry fruit, rose petals and kirsch. Medium to full-bodied, its fleshy core of fruit is framed by lively acids and youthfully chewy tannins.“

- 91-93 Punkte FALSTAFF, Peter Moser: „Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Feiner Nougat, zart nach Edelholzwürze, tabakig, schwarze Kirschen, zart nach Lakritze. Saftig, rotbeeriger Touch, elegante Textur, frisch strukturiert, feine Tannine, mineralischer Nachhall, bereits gut entwickelt.“

- 91 Punkte DECANTER, Georgina Hindle: „Metallic, graphite, wet stone nuances on the nose. Juicy and fresh, lovely, bright and zingy acidity makes an impression straight away. Clean and crystalline, lovely purity to this, a joyful quality. Succulent and supple, a gorgeous burst of strawberries, raspberries and red cherries; it's a riot of red fruits. Direct in terms of flavour precision with slightly grippy, chalky tannins giving the frame and structure. Polished, a touch of heat on the finish and a slight spice still from the oak. Refined.“

- 90 Punkte JEB DUNNUCK: „The 2020 Château Peymouton is based on 79% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon, all from a 31-hectare parcel of deep red clay soils. It has a healthy ruby/purple hue as well as good complexity in its ripe cherry and redcurrant fruits and notes of cedarwood, green herbs, and tobacco leaf. It's nicely balanced, medium to full-bodied, has ripe tannins, and solid length on the finish.“

- 93 Punkte JAMES SUCKLING: „Attractive aromas of plums and chocolate with some hazelnut. Dusty undertones. Medium-bodied with fine and polished tannins and a succulent finish. Hints of orange peel at the end. Drinkable, but better in 2024.“

Notizen des Weinguts: Château Peymouton is part of the estate of Château Laroque, a historic Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Émilion located just 3.5 km east of the medieval village. Château Laroque, one of the largest estates of the appellation, dates back to the 12th century. Thanks to its strategic position atop a limestone plateau overlooking the Dordogne river valley, it acted as a key defensive stronghold to the nearby village. The vineyard itself was planted in the 18th century. The Beaumartin family acquired the property in 1935, and, in the 1960s, began modernizing the vineyard and winemaking facilities. In 1996, Château Laroque was granted Grand Cru Classé status for 27 hectares of its vineyard while the remaining 31 hectares gave birth to a new wine: Château Peymouton, Saint-Émilion Grand Cru. Château Peymouton is located on high plateau parcels of the estate (80-100 meters in altitude) that are composed in part of a thin layer of rich clay over limestone, and partly of deep, thick red clay. These soils contribute density and structure to the wine that nonetheless retains the elegance imparted by the limestone. Château Peymouton is managed by the same team and enjoys the same care and attention as Château Laroque. Harvest takes place based on the individual maturity of each parcel, and the wine is vinified gently with particular care given to the expression of fresh fruit. The wines of Château Peymouton express the elegance of this historic terroir in a vibrant, fruit-driven style that can be enjoyed after just a few years of cellaring.
