- 98 Punkte JAMES SUCKLING: Extremely bright flowers and citrus with graphite, currants and blueberries. The nose is like going into a flower shop. Medium- to full-bodied with extremely polished tannins that caress your palate. Firm at the finish, which tells you that there is plenty coming in the future. A blend of 60% cabernet sauvignon, 25% malbec, 9% carmenere, 6% petit verdot. Try after 2028, but already open and enticing.“

- 97 Punkte Parkers WINE ADVOCATE, Matthew Laczy (08/2024): " The 2022 Seña enters on a reticent note, quietly opening up to reveal a dark, leather-bound nose with hints of turned earth, cedar, licorice and graphite accents that manage a levity and high-toned energy. The palate is lively and spry, driven by bright treble tones balanced with weighty, broad depth and a perfectly suave texture. The finish is juicy yet tense, structured and refined, with impressive length and coiled energy. Ever-expanding in the glass, this is a gorgeous, energetic and exuberant example of poise and clarity that should be a pleasure to follow in the cellar. It's a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Malbec, 9% Carmenere and 6% Petit Verdot aged 18 months mainly in French barrique with some foudre. 2025-2042“

- 97 Punkte Colin Hay: "Seña 2022 (Valle del Aconcagua; 60% Cabernet Sauvignon; 25% Malbec; 9% Carmenere; 6% Petit Verdot; aged in oak barrels, 70% of which are new, and foudres; 13.5% alcohol; tasted twice, the second time with Francisco Baettig over Zoom). Wild and herbal, spicy and quite meaty too, with a wild, dusty earthy streak to it. Impressively floral, more and more so as it inhales and relaxes in the glass, with lavender, thyme and violet, a hint of rose, maybe a suggestion of saffron. Blood orange. Blue and black fruit. The rose petal notes bloom with time and gentle aeration. There’s also lots of fresh bright peppery notes – crushed green, rose and Szechuan peppercorns. Turmeric and cumin too. On the palate this is fresh, gracious, bright, lifted and very lithe and dynamic, above all in the luminous and crystalline mid-palate. Sinuous. Glistening and rippling on the finish. Almost gentle. Certainly one of the more delicate vintages of this wine that I’ve tasted. Long. Fine-grained and ripe tannins aided but the slow and stable maturation, due to residual water presence. More structured on the finish than the 2021.“

- 96 Punkte VINOUS, Joaquin Hidalgo:The 2022 Seña is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Malbec, 9% Carménère and 6% Petit Verdot, sourced from the Seña vineyard in Ocoa, Aconcagua Valley. Aged for 20 months, 85% in French oak barrels (66% new) and 15% in foudres, this garnet wine offers a garrigue-like aroma with notes of raspberry, blackberry and flowers over a deep cedar core. Dry and juicy on the palate, the grippy and plush tannins lead to a flavorful and balanced mouthfeel. Compared to other Seña vintages, the 2022 is more intense and nuanced. 2026-2038“

- 94 Punkte JANE ANSON, Inside Bordeaux (07/2024): „Liqourice, aniseed, fennel, cocoa bean, intense and powerful, reflecting a good quality vintage with low rainfall but few excess temperatures. Harvest August 5 to 23, 70% new oak barrels for ageing, along with 10% 2,500l oak casks. Emily Faulconer winemaker, heading over from Vina Carmen. 2026-2040”

Notizen des Weinguts: Seña was created in 1995 as a joint venture between Eduardo Chadwick and Robert Mondavi, who shared a dream of making a wine that would show Chile’s full potential, a wine that would come to be welcomed, in time, among the world’s First Growths. Modelled on a Bordeaux style, it would have a Chilean soul given by its Carmenere variety, grown under biodynamic farming principles in the Aconcagua Valley. Vintage 2022 A harmonious and gentle growing season. Concentrated and elegant wines. The outstanding 2022 vintage benefited from ideal conditions during the growing season. The season was marked by a slightly lower crop, dry conditions, and average temperatures during the ripening period, that were perfectly in line with our historical records. Spring presented a slightly earlier bud-break due to less rainfall than normal during the winter. Then, moderate temperatures allowed the vines to continue with regular physiological dates during the whole season with a gradual and homogeneous ripening of the grapes. The biggest challenge of this season was the availability of water in the region, with only 75mm of rainfall, a 65% decrease compared to the historical average of rain in the Aconcagua Valley, that reached 219 mm. However, the deep-rooted older vines, a good irrigation strategy and the biodynamic practices, allowed us to go through the growing season gently. Harvest occurred in line with historical dates starting with Malbec mid-March, shortly followed by Cabernet Sauvignon picked on the last week of March and beginning of April, Petit Verdot during the last days of March, to finish with Carmenere during the second fortnight of April. Yields were slightly lower than expected, with a lower weight of the clusters due to the water availability. The grapes showed a good balance and high quality with great concentration and well-preserved acidity and colour. The wines obtained an intense and deep colour, rich aromas of fresh red fruit, with elegant and ripe tannins, good concentration, and a vibrant acidity, all characteristic of Seña's harmonious and elegant style given by its unique location with moderate temperatures influenced by the cool winds from the Pacific Ocean. Perfumed and complex in the nose, with notes of fresh fruit like plums, blueberries and lavender, unfolding subtle notes of sweet spices, cedar and graphite. This is a captivating wine that shows a beautiful balance between tension and ampleness, filling the palate completely with a lingering sensation.” Francisco Baettig, Winemaker February 2024
