Paloumey
Chateau Paloumey liegt zwischen den Chateaux La Lagune und Cantemerle und wird von Martine Cazeneuve geführt.
Die Weinberge, bestockt mit 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot und 5% Cabernet Franc, umfassen 34 Hektar auf unterschiedlichsten Böden, was zur Komplexität und Struktur des Weines beiträgt. Das Durchschnittsalter der Reben beträgt 25 Jahre, die Pflanzdichte 7200 Reben pro Hektar.
Die Trauben werden parzellenweise in thermoregulierten Edelstahltanks vergoren, der Wein reift für 12 Monate in Barriques, von denen ein Drittel neu sind.
- Robert Parkers WINE ADVOCATE, William Kelley: „Mostly located on the fine gravel soils of the southern Médoc, not far from Château La Lagune (though 10 hectares in Cussac lend depth to the blend), Paloumey wasn't replanted after phylloxera until 1989–90. Managed by Pierre Cazeneuve, the estate acquired organic certification in 2019 and is implementing agroforestry projects in the vineyards, the winery itself being powered by photovoltaic energy. Daniel LLose of Château Lynch Bages formerly consulted, rendering Paloumey in a rather rich, muscular style; but since around 2018, the style has modulated toward gentler extraction with fewer pump-overs, an approach that seems more in sympathy with the soils and site. Today, Paloumey produces supple, seamless, suave reds of considerable appeal.“
