2028-2058“- 98 Punkte JAMES SUCKLING: "The nose of this Paulliac shows mint, asphalt, black currants and orange peel, following through to a full body with a compressed palate and a fine tannin backbone that gives this classic tension. Flavors of dried fruit, walnuts, plums, currants and tar. Classic Lynch character. A blend of 71% cabernet sauvignon, 24% merlot, 3% cabernet franc and 2% petit verdot. Best in four to five years. Drink after 2029.“

- 96+ Punkte JEB DUNNUCK (03/2026): Deep purple-hued, the 2023 Château Lynch-Bages reminds me slightly of the 2019 with its elegance as well as its classic Pauillac aromatics of ripe, smoky red and black currants, freshly sharpened pencil, graphite, and stony minerality. Based on 71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot and aged 18 months in French oak barrels (75% new), it's medium to full-bodied and has a concentrated, layered, rich mouthfeel, beautiful, building tannins, and outstanding length. It's a classy, impressive 2023 that warrants 5-7 years of bottle age and will see its 30th birthday in fine form. Drink 2030-2055.“

- 96 Punkte DECANTER, Georgina Hindle: "Weighty and ripe, but high toned and sharp, a real push pull of tannins, concentrated fruit and acidity. Feels very complete, not necessarily all in harmony right now, this is quite intense, but there’s a statuesque element which is impressive. Both rich and cool with liquorice, graphite, plum, cherry and cranberry. Layers of freshness and a real sense of classicism makes you want to go back for more. More lean and streamlined than 2022, this is focussed and there is bite and edge to the tannins that will settle, but this is very good. 65% grand vin, 25% second wine, 10% third wine. 6% press wine. 2% Petit Verdot completes the blend. 2033-2046.“

- 95-97 Punkte JEB DUNNUCK: "The flagship 2023 Château Lynch-Bages is based on 71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot, resting in 75% new French oak. One of the biggest, richest wines in the vintage, it’s deep purple-hued and offers up some classic Lynch richness in its smoky black fruits, smoked earth, graphite, and tobacco-driven aromatics. These carry to a full-bodied Pauillac with ample mid-palate depth, ripe, building tannins, and a great finish. While it's clearly in the lively, fresher style of the vintage, it's a serious, structured, incredibly impressive Pauillac with tons to love. It's not far off the style of the 2019."

- 17,5+ Punkte JANCIS ROBINSON, Andy Howard: "71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot.
As expected, a great example of Pauillac from Lynch-Bages. Marries the weight and ripeness of the vintage with concentration on the palate, yet has precision and elegance to finish. Dark-berry/currant fruit, spice notes, subtle (but evident) oak, mineral notes at the finish. Delicious already but try to keep for another three-plus years. Great stuff! 2027-2042.“

- 95 Punkte WINE CELLAR INSIDER, Jeff Leve (09/2025): „Blackberries, black cherries, licorice, mint, flowers, camphor, and cigar wrappers produce an attention-seeking perfume. On the palate, the wine is racy, fruity, intense, long, and deep. There is a strong beginning, middle, and end, with a finish that lasts. This is a true Pauillac. The wine blends 71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot. 13.7% ABV. 3.75 pH. The harvest took place September 13 - October 4. Drink from 2028-2060.“

- 95 Punkte FALSTAFF, Peter Moser: "Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Ein Hauch von Minze, dunkle Kirschen, etwas Cassis, einladendes, sehr typisches Bukett. Saftig, komplex, reife dunkle Waldbeeren, präsente, reife Tannine, feine Extraktsüße, etwas Nugat, komplexer Stil, zeigt Länge und Potenzial.“

- 18,5 Punkte WEINWISSER: "71 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 24 % Merlot, 3 % Cabernet Franc, 2 % Petit Verdot, 13.7 Vol.-%, pH 3.75, 45 hl/ha. Dicht verwobenes Bouquet, schwarzbeerige Konturen, dunkles Edelholz, Schokopastillen. 2032-2060.“

Notizen des Weinguts: In the lands of Pauillac, the mild winter offered a contrast between drought and rain, sketching a complex picture for the winegrowers and dictating the rhythm and pace of the 2023 vintage. The teams at Château Lynch-Bages scrutinized the sky, anticipating the vagaries of the weather, aware that nature acts, but that humans must rise to the challenges. In spring, the vegetation awakened, and with it, the first concerns arose. The threat of disease loomed large, especially over the Merlots, but the swift intervention of our teams helped contain it: the qualitative potential of the berries was preserved. With the arrival of summer, the high temperatures slowed down the ripening of the grapes, but the fortunate rains of 12 September redressed the balance. This reinvigorated our Cabernet Sauvignons and ensured perfect balance. The early harvest announced a promising culmination... The 2023 vintage presents a clear and fruit-forward palette of aromas. The wines are well-balanced, with smooth tannins and good acidity. This new vintage stands out for its opulence, elegance, and purity. ''Château Lynch-Bages 2023 has a dense, deep colour. Aromas of cedar and black fruit give it a racy character. Its balance and silky tannic structure are remarkably harmonious. The velvety finish reveals great aromatic purity. An undeniable elegance characterises this vintage.' Nicolas Labenne, technical director, March 2024.
