- Notizen des Weinguts: „The color is dark, deep red. The surprisingly fresh nose is complex and delicate. The aromas of blackcurrant and cherry mingle with more floral notes of peony, then the smoky, minty nuances of the great left bank cabernets are revealed. The mouth keeps all its promises. Suave and creamy on the attack, compact and delicious in the mid-palate, it ends with a powerful and tasty finish. Lots
of sap and freshness in this Batailley. (Axel Marchal and Valérie Lavigne,Doctors of Œnology)“

- 96 Punkte DECANTER Georgina Hindle (01/2026): „Perfumed and highly scented on the nose, this is chewy, juicy, bright and serious at the same time, held together by the acidity and fine layers of tannins giving support and weight. Stays cool all the way through the palate, with liquorice notes and a flint aspect, but with a juicy, lively core adding nuance. A really nice wine for Batailley, such drinkability yet still with structure to age really well. 2028-2050.“

- 96 Punkte James Suckling: The minty, restrained nose shows dark cherries and black currants layered with cedar and crushed stones. The palate is succulent and elegant, with ethereal fruit framed by fine-grained tannins that lean toward firmness yet remain integrated and harmonious. This has depth, volume and approachability. 79% cabernet sauvignon, 19% merlot and 2% petit verdot. Open but will evolve nicely over the coming years. Drink or hold.“

- 96 Punkte DECANTER Georgina Hindle (05/2025): „An exceptional Batailley this year. Cool blue fruits and a graphite nose, salinity and minerality coming from the aromatics. Energy, focus and precision here - it’s straight and linear, the plumpness has gone into Lion but this is focused and direct, really streamlined with precise edges to the tannins and cool blue and bramble hedgerow fruit. It’s quite a serious take, but it has a juicy, almost sweet core of blackcurrant and cherry, with a slate finish. Well constructed, precise, finessed - totally classic. You cannot go wrong with this and for the price it’s insanely good. 2028-2050.“

- 96 Punkte JANE ANSON, Inside Bordeaux: "You want to know what Pauillac tastes like, roll up and enjoy this vintage of Batailley. Squid ink, slate, cassis, bilberry, slate, crayon, black chocolate, plenty of tannic grip, a smudge of grilled cedar oak and a squeeze of mint, it's all here. 57% new oak for ageing. Harvest September 12 through to October 5, Axel Marchal consultant, Philippe and Frederic Castéja owners.“

- 96 Punkte MARKUS DEL MONEGO MW: “Dark purple colour with violet hue and almost black core. Very densely woven nose with aroma reminiscent of blackcurrants, blackcurrant spurs, ripe blackberries and elderberries, fine toasting, subtle oak. A wine with elegance, purity and great freshness, precision and purity. On the palate well balanced with ripe tannins, finely grained, complemented by juicy fruit quoting the nose, excellent structure and length. Another great Batailley.“

 - 94 Punkte VINOUS, Neal Martin: The 2023 Batailley has a well-defined bouquet with sappy blackberry and bilberry fruit, well-integrated oak, the typical classic Batailley style with a bit of panache. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, very well balanced, slightly powdery in texture, with ample weight on the finish. It is built in a more approachable style compared to the wines of 10 to 20 years ago, a smooth operator! 2028-2052.“

- 94 Punkte WINE CELLAR INSIDER, Jeff Leve: „Soft, round, ripe, creamy, vibrant, black, and red fruits are all over the place here, in the nose, and on the palate. The wine has character, soft, creamy tannins, and the ability to be enjoyed in its youth, but as it ages as well. The wine is a blend of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot, and 2% Petit Verdot. 13.7% ABV.“
