Beschreibung

- Notizen des Weinguts: “ The colour is a strong, dark red. The first nose is very aromatic and fruity. On swirling, a world opens up, it breathes a sensation of depth: perfect ripeness of fruit, complex. The first taste is wide and thick, devoid of heaviness. Fruit is foremost as it develops. The tannins are abundant, plump and juicy. This is a wonderful, bountiful Mission. 2028-2053.“

- 19+/20 Punkte Weinwisser, Best of Bordeaux 2023: „ supertiefe, finessenreich geschliffene, warmherzige Nase mit viel Extraktschmelz.

 - 98 Punkte JEB DUNNUCK (03/2026): “Absolute classic La Mission sexiness and opulence emerge from the 2023 Château La Mission Haut-Brion, a blend of ripe red and black currants, flowery incense, spice, tobacco, and subtle smoky notes. It's medium to full-bodied, with a pure, layered, graceful mouthfeel, sweet tannins, and outstanding length. This deep, rich, multi-dimensional La Mission will shine with just 4-5 years of bottle age and cruise for 30+ years. Drink 2029-2059.“

- 97 Punkte DECANTER Georgina Hindle (05/2025): „A generously scented nose, very floral and perfumed, lovely high aromatics and fully expressive. Blue fruits, red cherries and some plum. Weighty and full, this really leaves a lasting impression on the palate, juicy but not too much, a tiny hint of sourness in the back gives the zing while the structure and the tannins do most of the talking, really putting the structure at the fore with a powdery, chalkiness that lingers. It’s serious, but in no way austere. Weighty but still streamlined. Chocolate, cherry and blackcurrant, feels very calm and confident, polished and sophisticated. It’s not trying too hard and feels settled in the glass. Delicious. 3.8pH. 4.4 acidity. 80 IPT. 47% grand vin production. 2034-2048.“

- 97 Punkte James Suckling: “ Aromas of graphite. black currants, black cherries, blueberries, gravel and stones. Medium-bodied with muscular yet polished tannins that show tension. So classic, with a super-long, seamless finish. Salty and spicy at the end. 52.7% merlot, 29.6% cabernet sauvignon and 17.7% cabernet franc. Best after 2029.“

- 97 Punkte TIM ATKIN

- 96 Punkte WINE CELLAR INSIDER, Jeff Leve: „Blackberries, spice, smoke, flowers, and currants shine in the perfume. On the palate, the wine is concentrated, yet, refined, long, deep, and intense. There is a vibrancy to the fruits that pairs perfectly with the smoky, currants, and blackberries, There is depth, length, and volume, with an easy-going elegance, and lift, Nothing is pushed. Everything is balanced, and in place. The sneaky finish builds, lingers, and resonates its essence. Part of the success of the vintage is due to July, with its cloudy skies, which provided protection from the sun, helping to keep ABV levels down. In the cellars, the extraction was soft, at lower temperatures. The wine blends 52.7% Merlot, 29.6% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 17.7% Cabernet Franc, 14.5% ABV. 3.7 pH. Harvesting took place, September 6-October 3. Only 42% of the harvest was placed into the grand Vin. Drink from 2030-2060.“

- 96 Punkte JANE ANSON, Inside Bordeaux: " Red roses, powdery chalky tannins, grip and lift, this is savoury, concentrated, full of lift and vibrancy, with layers of lush ripe red and black fruits, with the inky stamp of the Cabernet in the vintage, and the caressing tannins that La Mission does so well. Harvest started early and finished late, through to October 5. 2033-2048.“

- 17+ Punkte Jancis Robinson, James Lawther MW: „52.7% Merlot, 29.6% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17.7% Cabernet Franc. Cask sample.
Fine boned and classy but less power than some years. Floral notes and lithe fruit with fine tannins that build on the palate. Could deceive but perhaps not for the very long haul. 2032-2048.“

Notizen des Weinguts: La Mission Haut-Brion: A balance between opulence and elegance Nestled in the heart of Graves, La Mission Haut-Brion and its counterpart Haut-Brion stand opposite each other like twin sisters, each cultivating their unique qualities. Linked by history since 1540, both estates share an exceptional terroir known as Haut-Brion on ancient maps. La Mission Haut-Brion’s vineyard spans 29 hectares, with about 25 hectares planted with red grape varieties and just over 4 hectares with white. he Dillon family in 1983, La Mission Haut-Brion underwent a significant revival, incorporating advanced techniques to showcase its invaluable terroir while preserving its unique charm and spiritual essence. Year after year, this classified Graves vineyard continues to excel within the Domaine Clarence Dillon's prestigious portfolio. The 2023 Vintage Winter was marked by relatively low temperatures and heavy rainfall. Budbreak occurred in mid-March. The rainy weather and rather warm days encouraged the vine to grow continuously, at a frantic pace. The teams had to be on the alert, relentlessly observing the vineyard to prevent any risk of disease and to be able to step in rapidly. The advantageous position of the vineyard, where air circulates well, which limits the length of time leaves retain moisture and the constant watchfulness of the winegrowers in the vineyard made it possible to prevent the development of diseases, in particular mildew, the pressure of which was extremely intense. Flowering and then the formation of clusters occurred in excellent conditions, promising an abundant harvest of grapes. Throughout the whole season, green work, so necessary in this year, was stepped up. In half of the vineyard, leaf-thinning was done on the sunrise side. Green harvests were increased, whereas trimming was restricted to maintain the coolness of the soils and to protect the grapes from the risk of sunscald damage, by enabling them to benefit from the shade provided. Harvests of white grapes began on 24th August, in sweltering heat. As in previous years, the grapes were only picked in the morning and transported in refrigerated vehicles, to protect the aroma precursors. This special care was combined with meticulous sorting in the vineyard and on arrival at the vat house. The first juices of white grapes promised a fresh vintage, with lovely crisp liveliness. Harvests of red grapes started on 6th September, in good weather conditions, although very hot. The grapes were ripe and concentrated for all the varieties, with an abundance in phenolic compounds rarely seen before and a very good content of sugar. As for the juices, they were fresh and fruity. The bountiful harvest stretched out over 20 days for all of the plots and in weather conditions that remained summery.
