- 95 Punkte JEB DUNNUCK (05/2024): „I think the finest vintage to date from this estate, the 2020 Château Faugères has some similarities to the 2016, but with a touch more density and depth. Incredible aromatics of cassis, ripe cherries, leather, and graphite, full-bodied richness, a deep, layered mouthfeel, riveting purity of fruit, and beautiful tannins all define this sensational Saint-Emilion. It's a rich, powerful, inward 2020 (which is the vintage) and needs another 3-5 years of bottle age, but this is one well worth seeking out. After 2027“
- 94 Punkte MARKUS DEL MONEGO: "Intense purple colour with violet hue and almost black core. Opulant and aromatic nose reminiscent of blackberries, Crème de Cassis, wild strawberries, mild spices and dark chocolate. On the palate rich yet elegant character with good tension, well balance with a juicy fruit, ripe tannins and elegant acidity. Fruit lingering in the aftertaste, convincing length and aromatic depth.“
- 94 Punkte The Wine Independent, Lisa Perrotti-Brown: "The 2020 Faugeres from Saint Emilion has a deep garnet-purple color. It requires some patient swirling to unlock scents of tar, forest floor, wet slate, and garrigue, before Opening out to a fragrant core of baked plums and boysenberry preserves, with a waft of Indian spices. The full-bodied palate is ripe, concentrated, and fantastically bright, with unbelievable tension and freshness lifting the concentrated flavors to a very long, velvety finish.“
- 94 Punkte Jeff Leve, The Wine Cellar Insider (03/2023): “ Truffles, cocoa, dark red fruits, licorice and spice create a perfume that wants to get noticed. On the palate, the wine is rich, lush, concentrated, deep and polished. Yet, it is balanced by its freshness, lift and elegance that makes everything work here from start to the vibrant, cocoa, plum and spice-box finish. Drink from 2024-2040.“
- 18 Punkte Rene Gabriels BORDEAUX TOTAL, Andre Kunz: „Kunz Fassprobe 2021: (70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon) Mineralisches, kräftiges, seidenes, frisches, fein florales, komplexes Bouquet, Walderdbeeren, Johannisbeergelee, Minze, Kreide, zart Lakritze. Dichtverwobener, kräftiger, sehr frischer Gaumen mit fein cremiger, süsser Frucht, viel feinem Tannin, eleganter, seidener, dichter Struktur, vielfältiger, kräftiger Aromatik, sehr langer, frischer Abgang mit süssen Rückaromen. Kann noch zulegen.“
- 93 Punkte FALSTAFF, Peter Moser: „Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, zarter Ockerrand. Fruchtig, reife Pflaumen, frische schwarze Kirschen, etwas Nougat, einladendes Bukett. Saftig, süße Waldbeerfrucht, frisch strukturiert, präsente Tannine, mineralisch im Abgang, zitronig-salzig im Rückgeschmack, gutes Entwicklungspotenzial.“
- 93 Punkte JAMES SUCKLING: „Red berries, plums and flowers with hints of orange peel. Full-bodied with rich fruit, light jam, creamy tannins and brightness at the end. Lightly salty. Vivid. 70% merlot, 25% cabernet franc and 5% cabernet sauvignon. Better in a few years."
- 91-93 Punkte Robert Parkers WINE ADVOCATE, Lisa Perrotti-Brown: „Deep purple-black colored, the 2020 Faugères stampedes out of the glass with a herd of powerful black fruit notes: blackberry pie, baked black plums and ripe, juicy black cherries, plus hints of wild mushrooms, damp soil, tar and star anise with a waft of tobacco. The full-bodied palate is chock-full of black fruit preserves, framed by ripe, rounded tannins and oodles of freshness, finishing long and earthy. 2025-2040“
- 91-93 Punkte VINOUS, Neal Martin: „The 2020 Faugeres offers ripe black plum and boysenberry fruit on the nose, which is extravagant and verging on ostentatious, though somehow it maintains focus and delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with red cherries, boysenberry, cola and light allspice notes on the entry. Well balanced with impressive depth toward the fleshy finish, leaving a lick of dark chocolate on the aftertaste. This is a fine Faugeres that should be afforded 4–5 years in bottle.“
