Beschreibung

- Notizen des Weinguts: Dark in color, it develops an intense bouquet of black fruits, sweet spices and empryreumatic notes. Very racy, the palate is compact and tender, market by a strong tannic structure and a creamy finish. Remarkable persistence, with notes of fresh fruit.“

- 97 Punkte DECANTER Georgina Hindle: „Vibrant and intense colour in the glass, richly scented, floral and perfumed, open and inviting. Intense and concentrated, the fruit is dark and ripe but there’s no hint of over ripeness here and instead you get cool blue fruits, chalky tannins and minty freshness with accents of liquorice, coffee, tobacco, cedar spice and clove. Tannins are clearly at the fore, giving the structure and the frame while the juicy acidity gives the energy and life. Still on the serious side, not tense so much as there’s good persistence, it’s lean and streamlined, but refined in a spiced and mineral way. Gorgeous terroir markers, lovely detail and precision, you can feel they haven't worked too much or tried too hard. It carries the signature of the estate in the serious structure, it’s a big wine, there’s such power here but so well controlled and delivered. Razor sharp, focussed and persistent. A gorgeous 2022, well executed and will be a clear success. 2025-2049.“

- 96 Punkte James Suckling (01/2025): “The blackcurrants and lead pencil reveal themselves immediately with so many fresh-flower undertones like violets. Medium-bodied, this has intense yet refined tannins that show length and elegance as well as structure. A fine interpretation of the vintage. 75% cabernet sauvignon, 22% merlot and 3% petit verdot.“

- 96 Punkte WINE CELLAR INSIDER, Jeff Leve: „Licorice, flowers, mint, peach, currants, blackberries, tobacco and wet forest floor aromatics create the nose. The palate is rich, supple, creamy, fresh, and loaded with sweet, blackberries, white pepper, plums, currants and spice. The wine is full-bodied, round, and concentrated, with a long endnote leaving you with peppery licorice, spearmint, and creme de cassis on the backend. The wine is a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot. 14.20% ABV. 3.7 pH. The harvest took place September 8 - September 27. Yields were 42 Hectoliters per hectare. 70% of the harvest was used to produce the Grand Vin. Drink from 2027-2055.“

- 96 Punkte Adrian van Velsen-vvWine.ch (01/2025): Expressiv, rauchig, komplex, vielschichtig, Tabak, Heidelbeeren, Brombeeren, Gewürze; zugänglich, feingliedrig, saftig, präzis, feinste Gerbstoffe umgarnen die Frucht, cremige Textur, grosse Harmonie, wunderbare Länge. Dieses Jahr mit "schwarzem Label", einer der besten Werte im 2022.(Trinken von 2027 bis 2060).“

 - 95 Punkte VINOUS, Neal Martin (01/2025): The 2022 Batailley exudes a sense of precision on the nose that distinguishes it from vintages you might have found up to a decade ago. It has very focused, seamlessly integrated oak and predominantly black fruit laced with pencil shavings and cedar, rubber-stamping its Pauillac origin. The palate is medium-bodied with svelte tannins. This is very harmonious with a smooth texture, finely pitched acidity and a slightly spicy finish that will require five or six years to soften. The Castéja family has really taken Batailley to greater heights in recent years, reliving some of the past glories like the 1947, 1955 and 1961.“

- 95 Punkte FALSTAFF, Peter Moser (01/2025): Dunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung.

- 17++ Punkte Jancis Robinson: „70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot.
Inky crimson with a black core. Intense, pure cassis. Dark, savoury and spicy. Massively tannic so that it's quite hard to taste at the moment even if there's plenty of fruit. Embryonic, dense, long. 2032-2047.“
