- 94 Punkte, Le Nouveau Bettane & Desseauve 2024: „Comme souvent, on est au niveau d'excellents crus classés. Grand Avenir“

- 93 Punkte Robert Parkers WINE ADVOCATE, William Kelley: „The 2020 Phélan Ségur is rich and generous, unwinding in the glass with aromas of sweet berries, cherries and plums mingled with hints of violets and spices and framed by creamy new oak. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered, it's a concentrated, structured wine underpinned by a chassis of generously extracted tannin that lends it a somewhat youthfully chunky profile.“

- 93-95 Punkte WINE ENTHUSIAST, Roger Voss: “Barrel Sample. Firm tannins, very much in the traditional style of Saint-Estèphe, give this wine an intense, concentrated structure. To balance this and in the new more open style from this estate, the wine also has fine fruits—black currants layered with acidity.”

- 94 Punkte DECANTER, Jane Anson: "The austerity to the tannins works in this wine's favour giving a juicy grip to the concentrated blackcurrant and bilberry fruits without strangling them. Excellent stuff, finishing up with liquorice and smoked coffee bean. This is an estate that has just powered to better and better wines over the past few years. Yields were 10% below the average of the past five years but still at 40hl/ha. Harvest September 16 through to October 1, finishing around 10 days earlier than the past two years. Consultants Michel Rolland and Julien Viaud. First vintage with Petit Verdot included in the main wine (2%), from vines planted in 2013. Tasted twice. Drinking Window 2026 – 2042"

- 94 Punkte DECANTER, Georgina Hindle: “Clean and compelling, quite richly textured with bright black fruits but also savoury touches. This is brooding and you can feel the power and the concentration of the vintage. Ripe tannins remain prominent with spiced edges giving tension and linearity throughout. Forward, intense but detailed, nuanced and seductive. Feels well worked, salty and tangy. Give it time but this will have fans. So sleek and well controlled with bite. Lovely.”

- 95-96 Punkte JAMES SUCKLING: "Bright and perfumed with some chocolate, berry, sandalwood and cedar. Very elegant and fine, medium to full-bodied palate with very integrated tannins and refined, polished texture. The tannins melt into the wine. Long finish with serious structure. Vivid and refined. Class here. Very Bordeaux. 54% cabernet sauvignon, 42% merlot, 2% cabernet franc and 2% petit verdot."

- 95 Punkte JEB DUNNUCK: "The Grand Vin 2020 Château Phelan Ségur from director Véronique Dausse checks in as 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot, and 2% each of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, and this is the first time that blend has included all four varieties. Aged 18 months in 55% new French oak, its vivid purple color is followed by a gorgeous bouquet of pure cassis and black raspberry fruits as well as complex floral, spice, and crushed stone-like minerality. Medium to full-bodied and flawlessly balanced, with silky tannins, it's an incredibly classy, seamless, elegant 2020 that shows the ripe yet classic style of this incredible vintage. It will evolve gracefully for over two decades.“

- 93 Punkte WINESPECTATOR, James Molesworth: “A sleek, taut, winey style, with a mix of red and black currant coulis notes that stretch out over hints of charcoal, tobacco and wet stone. Shows a sanguine echo through the finish, with nice range and character overall. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Best from 2024 through 2038. 150,000 cases made.”

- 93 Punkte VINOUS, Antonio Galloni: "The 2020 Phelan Segur is powerful yet elegant, with so much to offer. There’s terrific depth to the 2020, right from the start. Succulent dark cherry, leather, espresso, dried herbs, incense and spice infuse the 2020 with remarkable depth. Even with all of its obvious power, the 2020 has an element of sweetness in the tannin that is so alluring. It will be interesting to see if the 2020 opens a bit more with time in bottle. I suspect it will.”

- 94 Punkte VINOUS, Neal Martin: "The 2020 Phelan Segur, which was picked 16 September to 1 October, and is the first vintage with four varieties in the blend i.e. Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot as well as Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. It fulfils the promise that it showed from barrel. Not quite as intense on the nose, yet it has retained that Pauillac-inspired allure thanks to those subtle pencil box and cedar scents infusing the black fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with a cohesive, well-knit entry. Lovely texture, very pure, this is one of the most seductive Phelan that I can recall at this stage and I adored the classicism and graphite note that lingers on the aftertaste. Superb.”

- 18+ Punkte WEINWISSER: "42 % Merlot, 54 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 2 % Cabernet Franc, 2 % Petit Verdot, 41 hl/ha. Kaufen!"

- 94 Punkte ANDREAS LARSSON: „Pure and intense dark fruit notes, cassis, black cherry with some oak derived spiciness and fine toast. The palate has nice harmony with ripe yet fresh dark fruit, crushed black currant and sage flavours with super fine and polished tannin, good density and weight with a long and digest finish.“

- 94 Punkte JANE ANSON: „Delivering, as it so often does, richly textured, concentrated and powerful black fruits, a sterling example of the 2020 vintage in St Estèphe, turmeric, crayon and smoked earth notes, lime blossom and pomegranate adding texture and complexity, great stuff. Yields 40hl/ha, harvest September 16 through to October 1, finishing around 10 days earlier than the past two years. Consultants Michel Rolland and Julien Viaud. First vintage with Petit Verdot included in the main wine, from vines planted in 2013.“

- 91-93 Punkte FALSTAFF, Peter Moser: "Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung.

- Véronique Dausse and Michel Rolland talk about Château Phélan Ségur 2020: "2020 at Phélan Ségur is a sort of achievement of 10 years working very hard to find the best expression of our terroir. [...] We did a very strong work to make the best selection and to make the wine more precise than ever. That's certainly for me, the best Phélan ever"

- Philippe Van de Vyvere: "And there you have it, this 2020 was born, as if nothing had happened. it is the most fundamental vintage from Château Phélan Ségur. A real
pleasure to see the result of years of work transcending a great terroir: it is Château Phélan Ségur’s essence. And although this quest is never-ending, I have the feeling that we have reached a high point in our search for precision, complexity, depth, purity."

- 94-96 Punkte YVES BECK: “Un vin qui comule charme, temperament et persistence. A nouveau une belle performance de Phelan Segur qui aligne les performances!”

- 94 Punkte ALEXANDRE MA: “Absolutely a gem! Whoever drinks understands its charm! Chateau Phelan Segur 2020 once again conquered my picky palate with its representative abundance, richness, sweetness and mellowness.”

- 93 Punkte CHRIS KISSACK: “This high-lying property has done it again in 2020 … There is plenty of structure and texture here … another impressive wine from Phelan-Segur.”

- 17,5 Punkte VINUM: „Herrliche, besonders verführerische, komplexe Aromatik; eleganter Auftakt, voluminöse Entwicklung über erstklassigem Tannin, grosse Länge; beispielhaft einmal mehr.“
