Racines
RACINES ist ein gemeinsames Projekt von Etienne de Montille und Brian Sieve, die die bekannte Domaine de Montille in Burgund leiten, und Rodolphe Peters von Champagne Pierre Peters. Auf der Suche nach einem geeigneten Ort für ihr Vorhaben waren sowohl Etienne und Brian als auch ein Jahr später Rodolphe zu dem Schluss gekommen, dass Santa Rita Hills die perfekte Gegend für elegante ausbalancierte Weine mit Terroir ist.
Rodolphe Peters: “After more than fifteen years of consulting throughout the world and numerous partnership requests outside of France, the wines of Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs that I discovered from Santa Barbara, finally got me to select these magnificent terroirs in the Sta. Rita Hills to produce, for the first time, limited quantities of my own Sparklings within the Racines project.“
Der Fokus liegt auf Chardonnay und Pinot Noir und mit den Erfahrungswerten aus Frankreich als Grundlage, entstehen hier Weine, die frei von historischen Vorgaben das Terroir zum Ausdruck bringen, geprägt vom kühlen Klima der Santa Rita Hills. In den Weinen von Racines spiegelt sich so alles aus Burgund, Champagne und Kalifornien. Nicht umsonst gehört das Anbaugebiet zu den besten Pinot Noir- und Chardonnay-Gegenden in der Weinwelt. Und so entstehen hier kleine Mengen erstklassiger Single Vineyard Weine, kein Wunder, bei dieser geballten Kompetenz.
„Pinot Noirs — employing whole-cluster fermentation, adding elegance, lift and spiciness, combined with pigéage throughout fermentation, offering a burlier, more extracted flavor profile, with more weight, volume and exceptional aging potential.
Chardonnays — grown several miles from the ocean in ancient marine sea-beds, giving these wines a sense of energy, transparency and precision, and the advantage of being crafted with the techniques and expertise of hundreds of years of Burgundian and Champagnes winemaking.“
