- Notizen des Weinguts: “ Intense ruby colour with garnet reflections. Well-ripened red fruit (raspberry, strawberry) on the nose. The precision of the 2020 vintage is confirmed on the palate, with the exceptional finesse of the tannins. The finish is full of flavour and gives great pleasure."
- 91 Punkte Wine Enthusiast: “ From a vineyard next to Phélan-Ségur, this wine has rich tannins filled out with berry flavors. The structure and density are balanced by the light alcohol and juicy black fruits. Drink the wine from 2026.“

| Notizen des Weinguts: | Intimately linked to Château Phélan Ségur, La Croix Bonis comes from selected parcels at the property. Made principally from Merlot, the wines are aged for 12 months. A fine expression of the Saint-Estèphe appellation, La Croix Bonis is a fleshy, supple wine, very fruity with well-integrated tannins. It can be enjoyed after 3 to 8 years. Description Closely affiliated with Château Phélan Ségur, “La Croix Bonis” comes from selected plots in the estate, most of which are merlot, located on the best land in Saint Estèphe. The kinship does not stop with the appellation and the terroir because Philippe Van de Vyvere, the new owner, develops La Croix Bonis as a Great Wine, reputed as one of the appellation’s best. History of the estate Located in the village of Saint-Estèphe, Château Phélan Ségur has proudly overlooked the Girondeestuary since the early 19th century. Its history is intimately linked with that of the Médoc. Founded by Irishman Bernard phélan when he united Clos de Garramey and Domaine Ségur de Cabanac, the estate was developed by his son, Frank, and renamed Phélan Ségur in the early 20th century. An Irish origin, four families and more than two centuries of passion, respect for the land and innovation at the service of a great name. After more than thirty years at the head of the estate, the Gardinier family handed over the reins of the estate to Philippe Van de Vyvere. This wine lover is fulfilling one of his most cherished dreams by taking over this prestigious vintage. Terroir The terroir of Phélan Ségur, situated in the eastern part of Saint Estèphe bordering the estuary, is composed of gravelly alluvial deposits produced when the Garonne was a torrential river 650000 years ago. The deposits consist of pebbles, and above all gravel, coated with sandy clay. The variable thickness of these deposits is easily observable because it has created the undulating country that lies around most of Saint-Estèphe. The alluvial layers are underpinned by a chalky marine formation going back to the time when the Pointe du Médoc, near the ocean, was covered by the waves. |
