- 99 Punkte DECANTER, Matts Walls: „Very darkly coloured indeed. An extraordinarily deep and Mourvèdre-heavy fug of a scent; deep, but so fresh and searching. It's not overly full-bodied or heavy. Great surging acidity. It's tannic and will take a long time to soften, but promises great freshness and a long life - don't open too young. Around 60% of the blend comes from old-vine Mourvèdre from the Courrieux vineyard. Grapes are destemmed, fermented in tronconic wooden vats using natural yeasts after a brief cold maceration with regular punching down.“

- 95-97 Punkte VINOUS, Nicolas Greinacher: „The quality oft he 2021 Chateauneuf-du-Pape Hommage a Jacques Perrin is impossible to ignore, almost cruising at the same high altitude as the 2020. Aged in foudre and made from the usual bland of 60% Mourvedre, 20% Grenache and 20% Syrah. The 2021 Hommage a Jacques Perrin displays fragrant violet, blackcurrant, red and black cherry, blueberry, thme, lavender, licorice and mint aromas. Full-bodied, polished and enveloped in an intricate web of velvety tannins, it concludes with excellent persistence on the complex finish.“

- 96 Punkte JAMES SUCKLING: „Very dense, but also vivid with great elderberry, lavender, licorice and allspice aromas. Impressive concentration and power for the challenging vintage. Magnificent follow through at the long structured finish. Best from 2026. From organically grown grapes.“

- 18,5+ Punkte JANCIS ROBINSON: „Cask sample. Pure and intense cassis, blackcurrant nose – a leafy and earthy crushed blue-fruit note beneath. A supple palate with a herbal savoury note, thrilling fresh acidity throughout and fine restrained and dusty tannins. The energy throughout is superb – excellent concentration of crushed cassis, earthy spice, liquorice and a layered, extremely long finish. So much energy and purity in this wonderful wine.“

Notizen des Weinguts: If “Hommage à Jacques Perrin” is a Châteauneuf-du-Pape in its own right, it is nevertheless an interpretation, a particular vision, with the greatest respect for the terroir from which it comes. Originally, a remarkable terroir, very old vines planted in 1909, worked in the most natural way possible, according to the principles of biodynamics cherished by Jacques Perrin to extract the purest and truest expression. The 2020 vintage of Hommage à Jacques Perrin offers a magnificent aromatic complexity with notes of black fruits and spices expressing all the typicity of Mourvèdre.  2020 Vintage (By Charles PERRIN) : The 2020 vintage in Southern Rhône was favoured by very good weather conditions, it is a generous vintage, both in terms of quality and quantity. Not as hot as in 2019, this year was very windy, throughout the growing cycle, with light rainfalls. After a fairly mild winter (one single episode of frost was noted during the night of March 24, but only the early-ripening plots were very slightly affected). The spring was radiant, quite warm, and very windy, which allowed the soils to preserve their freshness. Flowering began on May 18, under very healthy conditions. The good weather continued in June, July, and August, with plenty of heat but lower temperatures than in 2019, cool and humid nights, and wind that continued to blow, preserving the freshness of the vines and maintaining perfect sanitary conditions for the grapes. The harvest, which was fairly early, therefore began under these very good conditions on August 26 with the white Côtes-du-Rhône and continued until the end of September with the Mourvèdre. September was warm at the beginning of the month and then more temperate, offering idyllic harvest conditions and allowing each plot to be harvested at perfect maturity. The harvest was very healthy with beautiful juicy and very ripe grapes, reasonable alcohol levels, good acidity, and already a great balance. Yields are slightly higher than 2019 and the first tastings predict a very nice vintage.
