- 95 Punkte JANE ANSON, Inside Bordeaux (04/2025): "First vintage of a wine that has been creating a slow drumbeat of interest, as news spreads that Axel Heinz, king of Merlot in his last role with Masseto, has created a new Lascombes bottling focusing on the same grape. My feeling is that plenty of people will be surprised by the results, particularly in the uber-ripe 2022 vintage. This is not the powerful fist of fruit that would have been easy to deliver. It kicks off with richly layered and ripe raspberry, damson and red cherry, but they take the foot of the pedal at just the right moment, and allow the limestone-driven minerality and pumice stone juice to come flooding in. The plot for these grapes, called La Côte, has been part of Lascombes for over 40 years, but is not in the original 1855 footprint that is now being focused on for the 1st wine. 50% new oak for ageing. Lawrence Wine Estates owner. 2027-2038.“

- 94 Punkte VINOUS, Antonio Galloni (04/2025): „The 2022 La Côte de Lascombes is just as impressive as it was when I tasted it a few months ago. Dense and explosive, the 2022 possesses notable textural richness and pure power. The 2022 was vinified by the former team here, so it naturally shows considerable extraction and a much stronger oak imprint than is the case with the vintages that follow it. Black cherry, plum, chocolate, licorice and espresso stain the palate on the potent finish.  2030-2042.“

- 94 Punkte JEB DUNNUCK (02/2025): “ A new wine from this château that's made from 100% Merlot planted on the more limestone portions of the estate, the 2022 La Cotes Lascombes has a ruby/purple hue to go with a supple, layered, beautifully textured style. It offers notes of eed and black fruits, graphite, crushed stone, and beautifully integrated oak. I love its overall balance, it has ripe, velvety tannins, and a great finish. It should keep for at least two decades. 2025-2045.“

Château Lascombes, a new era for this 2nd Grand Cru Classé From the 17th century to the present day, ten generations of owners have succeeded one another and left their mark on the history of Château Lascombes. It's a story punctuated by colourful characters, all of whom have worked to ensure the excellence of the wines from this 1855 Second Grand Cru Classé. From the oldest known owner, the Chevalier de Lascombes, who bequeathed his name to the estate, to Alexis Lichine, owner and wine merchant, and more recently to MACSF, a French mutual insurance company. In 2022, the prestigious Lawrence family bought this second grand cru classé. The arrival of Axel Heinz, former winemaker at Ornellaia, from the 2023 vintage marked a major turning point in the style of Lascombes wines. The 2024 vintage - Meticulous work in the vineyard After several sunny vintages, 2024 saw a return to the rainy, cool and slow-toripen “old-style” vintages, requiring constant precision and rapid responses from the winegrowers. Precision is the best word to characterise the wines. 2024 has produced sleek wines with a perfect balance between moderate alcohol, refreshing acidity and svelte, silky tannins, enhanced by exceptionally pure fruit. The great Cabernet Sauvignon vines on the property’s historic terroir shine with their balance between power and delicacy, once again proving their capacity for excellence whatever the conditions. Soft Merlot with crisp fruit and a touch of Petit Verdot enrich the blend. The result of this quest for precision is a harmonious, polished wine with a purity and elegance that mark a return to the timeless classicism of the great Bordeaux wines. A vintage with a great deal of charm that is sure to delight wine enthusiasts throughout its evolution. Axel Heinz - General Manager
