Beschreibung

- NAPAWINEPROJECT.COM: The 2014 World’s End Rocksteady, named after a type of music that originated in Jamaica in the mid 1960s, this wine is a unusual (for the Napa Valley), a proprietary red blend with 49% Merlot, 18% Syrah, 15% Petit Verdot, 13% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. The Merlot was sourced from a Beckstoffer owned Carneros vineyard. Immediately shows bright red fruit aromatics on the bouquet including red cherry, along with hints of mushroom, rosemary and sage and as the wine breathes further hints of dry earth and oak. Balanced with tannins that are long lasting and slightly chewy but not harsh. Lively acidity.“

- 94 Punkte JAMES SUCKLING: „Impressive cool blue fruits with a very supple plum-flavored palate, which is wrapped in easygoing fleshy fruits. The flavors bolster through the finish with rich, toasty mocha oak influence. Smooth resolve. Very open-knitted. Drink or hold.“

Notizen des Weinguts: Its champion varietal is Merlot; being from Bordeaux it is variety we are intimate with! French inspired winemaking makes this a Californian wine – with a twist! Viticulture: The Merlot is sourced from Andy Beckstoffer’s Los Carneros vineyard. Heavily influenced by its proximity to the San Pablo Bay, the maritime climate is further enhanced by the range of mountains residing to the south, east and north. These mountains act as a natural catch basin, trapping the fog and cool maritime breezes that typically funnel into the southern end of the Napa Valley from the San Pablo Bay on summer and fall afternoons. During harvest Los Carneros is able to take advantage of its cooler location farther south in the Napa Valley, allowing Merlot to ripen slowly, achieving full phenolic ripeness before being harvested. Vinification: Vinification is very similar to those wines that are made in France. After sorting – firstly by bunch and then, after the de-stemmer, grape by grape, a long cold soak before fermentation occurs. The wine undergo their malolactic fermentation in new and one or two year French oak, and are aged in the same oak.
