- 92 Punkte und "Editor's Choice" WINE ENTHUSIAST, Paul Gregutt: "Past releases of this wine were sourced solely from Antiquum vineyard; here, there is an additional source. The quality remains quite high despite the substantially larger production and lower price. Win, win, win! Raspberry, cherry, sassafras, cola and mocha flavors are in play. The inclusion of 20% whole clusters and aging in neutral barrels have added light touches of flavor."

Notizen des Weinguts: Barrique: Yes, French Oak, 1 to 4 year old barrels, 10 months in oak Vintage: The growing season in 2015 started off with a mild and early spring. Most vineyards saw new growth pop out in the latter part of March which is generally 2-3 weeks ahead of schedule. This was followed by an early flowering. Clusters were plentiful and large. The early half of the summer was very warm. Then we saw a cooling off in September which prevented the fruit from shedding too much acidity. Fruit was picked in pristine condition with no threat of rain on the horizon. As a result both our Antiquum Vineyard and La Chenaie Vineyard vines produced wines of deep hue and ripe flavor while retaining purity. Winemaker´s Comments: Our 2015 Willamette Valley wine is comprised of fruit from two vineyards on marine sedimentary and volcanic basalt soils, Antiquum Vineyard in the southern part of the Willamette Valley AVA, and La Chenaie Vineyard in the Eola-Amity Hills AVA. The fruit was hand harvested from both sites at the end of September, on the 21st and 26th respectively. Our rows from both vineyards include clones 113, 115, 667, 777, Pommard and Wädenswil. The wine was fermented in small one ton lots. After about a week long cold soak, fermentation began naturally and gentle pigéage by hand occurred twice daily. And after 20 days on skins, the wine was basket pressed and put to barrel to age in neutral French oak. Your favourite recipe for this wine: Harrissa rubbed roasted lamb :-)
