Our vineyards and winery are certified Napa Green.“ Das Weingut wurde in den 1970er Jahren von der Familie Skalli gegründet, stetig ausgebaut bis zu einer Größe von ca. 200 ha und bis 2015 erfolgreich geführt. 2015 wurde es von der Familie Wertheimer (Chanel) erworben, u. a. ebenfalls in Besitz von Chateau Canon (St. Emilion) und Chateau Rauzan Segla (Margaux). Winemaker ist der sehr erfahrene und sympathische Michael Scholz, ein gebürtiger Australier und seit den 1990er Jahren bereits in Kalifornien tätig. Berater ist Michel Rolland, der sagt über den Winemaker: "Michael Scholz is on my list of great winemakers from around the world."
Ich habe die Weine auf der Prowein verkostet und war sehr positiv überrascht, sie sind toll, mit herrlicher Frucht, schöner Frische, einer tollen Struktur. Es werden nur die Trauben aus den eigenen Weinbergen verwendet und diese werden nachhaltig, im Einklang der Natur bewirtschaftet. Am Werk sind zudem Profis – und das schmeckt man auch. Im Weingut und seinen Weinbergen steckt ein enormes Potential. Man darf gespannt sein, wohin die Reise unter den neuen Besitzern geht …

These wines are balanced and showcase fruit-forward flavors. w i n e m a k e r ' s n o t e s Vibrant, fresh and expressive, this Sauvignon Blanc showcases tremendous aromas of green lime and grapefruit with a citrus drive and a thread of caper and anise. Pink grapefruit flavors follow with exotic guava and bright, refreshing lime zest, while accented with a nuance of fennel, all beautifully balanced with bright, refreshing, crisp acidity. v i n t a g e 2 0 2 2 The 2022 growing season began as usual with budbreak in mid-March through early April, followed by abundant shoot growth in May. Early summer brought nice warm days and cool nights with veraison occurring in mid to late July. Temperatures remained relatively even through the start of harvest and into August, while early September brought a heat wave that caused us to accelerate the final stages of the Sauvignon Blanc pick to catch the optimum ripeness. The vintage created bright fresh white wines with vibrant varietal flavors and textures. After achieving the desired flavors on the vine, the Sauvignon Blanc was harvested in the cool morning hours in an effort to preserve the delicate flavors. Once in the cellar, the grapes were pressed to tank and immediately chilled and settled prior to fermentation. All fermentation was completed in stainless steel tanks at cool temperatures to maintain and enhance the natural flavors. The final blend was completed to capture the lovely fresh qualities and intensity of flavor of the varietal. |
