- 95 Punkte Robert Parkers WINE ADVOCATE, Lisa Perrotti-Brown: „Deep garnet colored, the 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon leaps from the glass with notions of minted cassis, chocolate box, rose hip tea and forest floor over a core of kirsch, Black Forest cake, dried Mediterranean herbs and mossy bark. Medium-bodied, lithe and refreshing in the mouth, the palate has wonderful freshness and a lovely mineral-tinged finish. Still very youthful.“

- 96 Punkte VINOUS, Antonio Galloni: „I have tasted the 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon enough to longer be surprised at how well it shows next to the vintages that surround it. Perfumed and floral, with striking nuance, the 2011 is exceptionally beautiful. Lavender, menthol and sweet red cherry are all laced throughout. Because of the cold, rainy conditions, the 2011 is naturally a bit more floral and savory than the norm, but it also has more than enough fruit and overall depth to balance things out. Once again, Spottswoode's 2011 is exquisitely beautiful.“

- 96 Punkte DECANTER, Matthew Luczy: „Aromas of espresso, cocoa nib, bramble and a hint of menthol show themselves after some initial reticence. Dark, coating and layered on the palate, with a deceptive amount of power. The finish is chewy, dense and firm. A powerhouse considering the vintage, and should continue to age effortlessly for a decade or more. Drinking Window 2021 – 2036“

- 17 Punkte JANCIS ROBINSON: „First vintage in this range with Petit Verdot. Challenging vintage with fog and rain.
Very healthy glowing crimson. Very aromatic Cabernet nose. So refined! A sort of bordelais style – by no means as luscious as most. Quite distinctive but it very deliciously splits the transatlantic difference. Quite chewy tannins. But pretty sleek in a very different style.“

- 94 Punkte JEB DUNNUCK: „The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate shows the cooler nature of the vintage, revealing some herbal, green notes as well as ample cedar, chocolate, and darker fruits. Classicly Cabernet aromatically, it’s medium to full-bodied on the palate and has great tannins, plenty of sweet fruit, and a seamless, elegant texture. This is another wine offering a classic, old school, yet pure, balanced, classy style that’s a joy to drink. Complex and nuanced today, with a supple texture, drink this beauty over the coming 10-15 years.“

- 95 Punkte JAMES SUCKLING: „A solid Spottswoode with mint, currants, berries and flowers. Sweet tobacco and rose petals. Full body with silky tannins and a long, long finish. Tangy, energetic and lively. A wine with form, tension and beauty. This is classic California. 89% cabernet sauvignon, 8% cabernet franc and 3% petit verdot.“

Notizen des Weinguts: Another product of the phenomenal 2013 vintage, this is quite simply an incredible Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, offering a wine made with the same care and intention as our Spottswoode Cabernet. Made predominantly from our own estate grapes, the Lyndenhurst offers another compelling expression of our famed Spottswoode Estate Vineyard. This wine was made using 73% fruit from our own estate as well as grapes carefully selected from a handful of conscientious growers who share our mindful and quality-focused approach to farming. This exceptional and highly regarded wine has the depth and complexity to age gracefully—it is a bright and beautifully balanced Napa Valley Cabernet with abundant youthful appeal. Winemaker Notes: Firm, youthful, juicy, fresh blackberries, black cherries and rose petals with coffee and dark chocolate. Dense and rich. Expressive. Great freshness and vivacity with a corresponding richness and power. Cedar with some cream and graham cracker crust. A long finish. Impressive and exceptional—a great deal of potential. We have great enthusiasm for this wine!
