- 95 Punkte Robert Parkers WINE ADVOCATE: "Youthfully mute at this primary stage, the 2014 Chardonnay Ritchie Vineyard offers suggestions of lemon curd, white peaches and white grapefruit with underlying notes of honeyed toast and butterscotch. The palate is full-on seduction with an appealingly oily texture and tons of peaches and cream flavors, finishing long with a lively lift."
- 95 Punkte WINE ENTHUSIAST: "From blocks of old Wente vines planted in the 1970s, this producer and site continue to find beautiful synergy together. This wine shows high-toned floral notes around full-bodied richness and flavors of crème brûlée and anise. A salty accent begs for attention as a kick of citrus finishes with grace and freshness."
- 94+ Punkte VINOUS Antonio Galloni: "Pale, bright yellow. Aromas of lemon zest, wild herbs and minerals. Dense, thick and savory, showing an exotic orange blossom note and a building floral element from the small percentage of Chardonnay Musqué vines but still quite youthfully tight, with a dominant flavor of crushed rock. This baby, from what David Ramey describes as "a big crop, but nice," needs time."
- 94 Punkte INTERNATIONAL WINEREPORT: "The Ritchie Vineyard is a widely spaced vineyard in Russian River Valley, first planted in 1972 and utilizes old Wente clones. The 2014 saw 30% new French oak for 19 months prior to bottling as well as consistent battonage. This shows off aromas of Meyer lemon oil, grapefruit blossom and wild mushroom accents. The weight and texture is quite impressive, as this delivers flavors of orchard fruits with crème brûlée and pineapple, which all persist through the long finish. This is a spectacular bottling by David Ramey which will continue to drink marvelously over the next decade. (Best 2017-2030)"
