Seriously composed and harmonious for 2015, this does present the intensity of the year with preserved citrus and grippy red fruit skin, but there is real motion on the drying, dramatic palate that carries a rather fine mousse to a pure red-fruit finish. Bara are certainly amongst those that have cracked 2015.“

- PETER LIEM champagneguide.net: "Bara joined the Club Trésors de Champagne, previously called the Club des Viticulteurs, after it was created in 1971, but he was initially reluctant to create a Spécial Club wine as he already had a prestige cuvée in the Comtesse Marie de France. He did end up making Spécial Club wines, of course, and today the Paul Bara Spécial Club is a blend of two-thirds pinot noir and one-third chardonnay, “always the lightest of our cuvées,” as Chantale Bara puts it. “It’s the least typical from the point of view of our terroir,” she says, because of its high chardonnay content, “but it’s always the most elegant.” 

Paul Bara’s champagnes are classic examples of Bouzy, with a full body and an ample, fruity ripeness thanks to pinot noir grown on the village’s warm, south-facing slopes. At the same time they demonstrate an unusual refinement and finesse, and despite the absence of malolactic, these champagnes are rarely aggressive - they tend to feel velvety in their depth of fruit and seamless in their integration of components from beginning to end. All of Bara’s wines are pure Bouzy and 100-percent grand cru, since they own no other parcels."

Notizen des Weinguts: The Special Club cuvée is unique to the Champagne region and is only made in years which are blessed with an exceptional harvest. The selection process comprises of a two-test system: firstly tasting the blend of the still wines and secondly tasting the champagne. Judged by 50 winemakers and made with the best vintage in the purest tradition, Paul Bara presents this Special Club selection to you. The 2012 vintage was a special year in which the nature gave a complete set of weather disasters; winter frost, spring frost, heavy rains, storms. Fortunately, the weather changed mid-July, it became hot and dry! A real summer which permitted a sustained maturation until mid-August. To finish, this harvest was qualified as exceptional! Brilliant pale yellow robe with very fine bubbles. Nose : floral notes like the jasmine, acacia, buttercup, citrus and pineapple notes. Palate : fruity feel, pulpy and crispy, citrus notes, wellintegrated acidity, with a chalky minerality. Saline and concentrated finish.
