Lieber Max Mustermann,

Wir hatten Weine des Weinguts schon in der Vergangenheit im Sortiment, da sie für einen St. Emilion Grand Cru ein hervorragendes Preis-Genuss-Verhältnis darstellen. Der 2018er Chateau Les Gravieres scheint jedoch alle bisher produzierten Jahrgänge des Gutes zu toppen. Ich habe den Wein selbst auch während der En-Primeur Woche verkostet und war sehr beeindruckt von der fantastischen Qualität. Mit dieser Meinung stehe ich nicht alleine da, wie die Bewertungen beweisen:

- 94-96 Punkte Robert Parkers WINE ADVOCATE, Lisa Perrotti-Brown: "Made from 100% Merlot, the 2018 Les Gravieres is deep garnet-purple and rocks up with gregarious blueberry pie, chocolate-covered cherries and plum preserves scents with nuances of violets, spice cake and mocha. Big, full and decadently fruited, it has a firm frame of super ripe, grainy tannins and wonderful freshness, finishing very long and layered."

- 91-94 Punkte VINOUS, Antonio Galloni: "A sleeper in this vintage, the 2018 Les Gravières (100% Merlot) is a very pretty and expressive Saint-Émilion. Freshly cut flowers, rose petal, mint and sweet red berry fruit are beautifully lifted in this very understated Saint-Émilion. Medium in body, refined and supremely gracious, the 2018 has a lot to offer. This is such a gorgeous wine."

- 92-94 Punkte JEB DUNNUCK: "This estate hit a home run in the vintage. Their 2018 Château Les Gravières (100% Merlot) reveals a saturated purple color as well as a massive bouquet of crème de cassis, black raspberries, lead pencil shavings, and flowery incense. Inky colored, full-bodied, incredibly pure, and layered on the palate, it has polished tannins and delivers a rare mix of elegance and hedonism. It’s a serious Merlot to drink over the coming 15 years, if not longer. Tasted twice."

- Jean-Marc QUARIN: "My best rating given to this cru en primeur. Dark, intense and beautiful. Medium on the nose, with ripe and fresh fruits. Juicy right from the attack and immediately savoury, the wine develops on a soft body, tasty, to a delicately tannic and persistent finish. It's very good."

- 93-94 Punkte Yves Beck, Beckustator: "Pourpre violacé. Le bouquet des Gravières 2018 est très convaincant. Il cumule fraîcheur, maturité et notes florales. Le fruit ne manque évidemment pas à l'appel et je relève des notes cassis ainsi qu'une touche poivrée. A l'attaque, le vin est d'une surprenante fraîcheur. Il est fin, équilibré et doté d'une structure qui lui confère de la fougue tandis que les tannins octroient de la puissance. Il en résulte un vin parfaitement équilibré et une réussite de plus à mettre au compte de Denis Barraud, un maître vinificateur hors-pair ! 2023-2038.

- 90-91 Punkte JAMES SUCKLING: "A tight and focused red with dark-berry, spice, and dried-flower character. Medium body. Pretty length."
-90-92 Punkte JEB DUNNUCK: „Sports a deep, black/purple color as well as ripe notes of black fruits, crushed rocks, and spicy oak. This medium to full-bodied, powerful 2018 carries serious fruit and a mouthfilling texture, yet it also has notable purity. Value is the name of the game here.“
-91- 93 Punkte Yves Beck, Beckustator: „Quelle robe dense, profonde, aux reflets pourpres. Le bouquet est complexe et allie idéalement intensité et finesse. Notes minérales et fruitées où je reconnais des notes crayeuses, chocolatées et rafraîchissantes. Mise en bouche friande et juteuse. Ce Bordeaux Supérieur a du coffre et de la race. Il est doté de tannins aux grains fins qui se révèlent lentement en fin de bouche et qui sont de pair avec la vivacité de la structure. Belle intensité aromatique jusqu'en fin de bouche. Le capitaine Jack's Barraud a encore frappé ! 2022-2032.“
-88-91 Punkte Daniel Sériot - Journal d'un passionné de la rive droite: „Des fruits noirs expressifs et des notes épicées soulignent un nez bien ouvert. La bouche offre une chair délicate enrobant les tannins,un corps bien formé et fruité. La finale d'une bonne allonge est fraîche expressive avec un délicat enrobage des tannins.“

- 93-95 Robert Parkers WINE ADVOCATE, Lisa Perrotti-Brown: "Made from 100% Merlot, the deep garnet-purple colored 2018 Lynsolence gives up bold notions of baked plums, black raspberries and Black Forest cake with hints of smoked meats, dried herbs and forest floor. Full-bodied and densely packed with layer upon layer of black and blue fruits, it has a rock-solid frame of grainy tannins and a long, earthy finish."
- VINOUS, Antonio Galloni: "The 2018 Lynsolence is a gorgeous wine that shows the more modern style of Saint-Émilion off to great effect. Super-ripe, jammy and concentrated, the 2018 possesses exceptional balance and class. Plush fruit and suave, silky tannins add to the wine's extroverted, flamboyant feel. The 2018 needs time to come together, but it is super promising. Tasted three times."
- 93-95 Punkte JEB DUNNUCK: "I suspect another best to date, the 2018 Lynsolence is a special cuvée from Château Les Gravières (whose Saint-Émilion is brilliant as well) based all on Merlot brought up in new barrels. Its inky purple/blue color is followed by blockbuster notes of blueberries, violets, cassis, and chocolate. Full-bodied, beautifully concentrated and pure on the palate, it’s a big, rich, powerful wine that stays incredibly balanced and pure, although I suspect it’s not for the traditionalist craving lightweight aromas and flavors. Drink this beauty any time over the coming 15-20 years. I suspect it will represent a killer value as well. Tasted twice."
- 93-94 Punkte JAMES SUCKLING: "This is really excellent and under the radar for some. Medium to full body and firm, very silky tannins. Beautiful finish. Serious potential."
- 95-97 Punkte Yves Beck, Beckustator: "Pourpre violacé. Bouquet complexe alliant minéralité, fraîcheur et maturité avec des notes de menthe, de myrtilles et de cacao. Attaque friande et juteuse. Au palais, le vin confirme les aptitudes du nez ; il est frais, fruité et a du caractère. La structure a du mordant, de la fougue et les tannins "ont les reins solides", ce qui leur permet de tenir tête à la vivacité de l'acidité. Au final, il en résulte probablement une des plus grandes réussites de Denis Barraud avec une insolence digne de Lynsolence, soit avec du charme, de la fraîcheur et un grand sourire. Bravo à Denis Barraud. 2023-2043."
- 93-95 Punkte Daniel Sériot - Journal d'un passionné de la rive droite: „Des arômes de cerises, de mûres, d'épices variées, avec des notes réglissées et un élevage qualitatif soulignent une olfaction expressive. La bouche est riche, intense, concentrée sans arrogance, charnue, veloutée et très fruitée. La finale est longue fraîche, d'un bon maintien, d'une avenante intensité aromatique.“
- 92-94 Punkte Wine Doctor, Chris Kissack: “This has grilled black cherry skins and black olives on the nose, perfumed with rose petal and peony, although there is a little reduction in this sample too. The palate has a creamed presence, a substantial weight, and a glossy presence of fruit, although there is a rich and minerally substance to the middle of the wine. It has a bold grip of tannins, ripe and prominent with a lightly drying character on the finish. A rather modern style, bold, full of grip but certainly attractive.“
- Jean-Marc Quarin: „My best rating (tied with 2016) given to this cru en primeur. Dark, purple, intense and beautiful. Nice nose, fruity, pure, creamy and, since there is less extraction, floral. Delicate on the attack, very perfumed, the wine melts in the mouth on a velvety body, tasty, pleasant and finally delicious. Good length.“

- Robert Parkers WINE ADVOCATE, Neal Martin: "The 2016 Les Gravieres has a lovely ripe red cherry and crushed strawberry scented bouquet with a touch of orange blossom following through. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannin and plenty blackberry and bilberry fruit, leading to a structured tobacco-tinged finish. This is a well-made Saint Emilion."
- 91 Punkte VINOUS, Neal Martin: "The 2016 Les Gravières has a perfumed, quite floral bouquet with crushed violet petals infusing the blackberry and strawberry aromas. The oak here is nicely integrated. The palate is well balanced with a fine line of acidity and hints of salted licorice infusing the black fruit. Good build in the mouth and gentle grip on the finish. Excellent."
- JEB DUNNUCK: "From the team of Denis Barraud and 100% Merlot brought up in new oak, the 2016 Château Les Gravieres is a solid, enjoyable Saint-Emilion that represents a good value. Notes of blackcurrants, plums, scorched earth, and graphite all emerge from this rounded, nicely textured effort that should keep for at least 10-15 years."
- 91 Punkte JAMES SUCKLING: "A decidedly riper style with dark-plum compote and notes of rhubarb and licorice. The palate has density of fruit in a dark, essence-like mode with full body and assertive, rich and ripe tannins. Try from 2022."
