- 94+ Punkte Parkers WINE ADVOCATE, S. Reinhardt (06/2023): „What a beautifully refreshing summer wine for ambitious wine freaks! Gantenbein's 2021 Pinot Noir opens with a deep, pure, slightly flinty and toasty yet intensely fruity bouquet with raspberry and blackberry as well as chocolate and oak aromas. Full-bodied, straight and fresh on the palate, this is a very elegant, juicy, silky textured and full-bodied Pinot with a straight, tight, long and saline finish that reveals fine but grippy tannins. Impressive wine! 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Drink Date: 2026 - 2045

- 96+ Punkte Robert Parkers WINE ADVOCATE, Stephan Reinhardt:
„Bottled in early March, the 2020 Pinot Noir is pure, precise and intense on the more classic, coolish and noble nose that shows a spellbinding purity, intensity and balance. Absolutely marvelous. Full-bodied, round and intense on the palate, this is a generously juicy, ripe yet fine and concentrated, also refreshingly salty and crystalline Pinot with a tight, sustainable structure and an enormously long and intense finish. This is a highlight of the Gantenbein Saga. Tasted at the domaine in March 2022.“

The 2020 vintage is, qualitatively, a huge success for Martha and Daniel Gantenbein whose three wines—Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling—are exceptional. The vintage was not without problems, however. In the spring, during the cool flowering time, many vines had trickled (coulure). In the summer came the next obstacle in the form of two hailstorms and stubborn grapes that did not simply drop their injured berries; so, they had to be laboriously sorted out, which meant about 400 hours of extra work, mind you, per hectare. And the Gantenbein's have six of them, which, by international standards, sounds like an allotment garden, but by Swiss standards, where yields are measured in grams per vine instead of hectoliters per hectare, it is not small at all but actually quite reasonable for a small two-person operation. The fans of the Gantenbein Pinot Noir, especially, will have to accept losses, because the reduction of the crop was most obvious here: only one-third of the normal yield could be filled.
