Beschreibung

- 97-99 Punkte Robert Parkers WINE ADVOCATE, Joe Czerwinski: „Tasted from foudre, the 2020 Chateauneuf du Pape Hommage à Jacques Perrin is approximately 60% Mourvèdre (from the same parcel, year after year), with the balance a blend of Grenache, Syrah and Counoise. Ripe plums and truffle-like notes mark the nose, while the palate is full-bodied and rich, with a long, velvety finish. Showing even more complexity and length than the regular bottling, there's a chance this could reach a triple-digit score down the road.“

- 98 Punkte DECANTER, Georgina Hindle: „Gorgeous florality on the nose, fresh rose petals and sweet red fruits, so beguiling and tempting. Beautiful fragranced fruit on the palate, the roses really continue all the way, edging the fruit and giving the palate such scent. Tannins are smooth and well integrated and this has a gorgeous texture, full and generous but silky smooth and so delectable. Excellent acidity gives freshness and energy and underpins the flavours giving a lovely hit of spiced liquorice, caramelised nuts and cola cubes. Feels really well worked, intense and concentrated but excellent definition and focus. A stylish and seductive wine. Hold onto for a few years. 5% Counoise completes the blend.“

- 95-97+ Punkte JEB DUNNUCK: „The deep, inky hued 2020 Châteauneuf Du Pape Hommage A Jacques Perrin is up with the crème de la crème in the vintage and just screams Mourvèdre with its layers of blue fruits, pepper, iron, and gamey, wild herb aromas and flavors. It’s full-bodied, has terrific purity, building tannins, and a great finish. It will have some educational appeal in its youth due to its balance and purity, but it deserves a decade in the cellar.“

- 99 Punkte JAMES SUCKLING: „Enveloping nose of super-ripe orange, pomegranate and cigar leaf that’s still very youthful and needs time to reveal its myriad nuances. Also notes of licorice, dried herbs and rose petals. Enormous concentration, silkiness and finesse on the expansive palate. Extravagant in the best sense of that word! The finish gets finer, the closer it gets to infinity. Drinkable now, but best from 2025.“

Notizen des Weinguts: If “Hommage à Jacques Perrin” is a Châteauneuf-du-Pape in its own right, it is nevertheless an interpretation, a particular vision, with the greatest respect for the terroir from which it comes. Originally, a remarkable terroir, very old vines planted in 1909, worked in the most natural way possible, according to the principles of biodynamics cherished by Jacques Perrin to extract the purest and truest expression. The 2020 vintage of Hommage à Jacques Perrin offers a magnificent aromatic complexity with notes of black fruits and spices expressing all the typicity of Mourvèdre.  2020 Vintage (By Charles PERRIN) : The 2020 vintage in Southern Rhône was favoured by very good weather conditions, it is a generous vintage, both in terms of quality and quantity. Not as hot as in 2019, this year was very windy, throughout the growing cycle, with light rainfalls. After a fairly mild winter (one single episode of frost was noted during the night of March 24, but only the early-ripening plots were very slightly affected). The spring was radiant, quite warm, and very windy, which allowed the soils to preserve their freshness. Flowering began on May 18, under very healthy conditions. The good weather continued in June, July, and August, with plenty of heat but lower temperatures than in 2019, cool and humid nights, and wind that continued to blow, preserving the freshness of the vines and maintaining perfect sanitary conditions for the grapes. The harvest, which was fairly early, therefore began under these very good conditions on August 26 with the white Côtes-du-Rhône and continued until the end of September with the Mourvèdre. September was warm at the beginning of the month and then more temperate, offering idyllic harvest conditions and allowing each plot to be harvested at perfect maturity. The harvest was very healthy with beautiful juicy and very ripe grapes, reasonable alcohol levels, good acidity, and already a great balance. Yields are slightly higher than 2019 and the first tastings predict a very nice vintage.
