- 94 Punkte Robert Parkers WINE ADVOCATE: "The 2014 Pichon-Longueville Baron was broody at first, as if a big "No Entry" sign had been placed in front of the aromatics. But peeking underneath are some wonderful blackberry, cedar and graphite aromas that just sing of Pauillac and exude typicity. The palate is medium-bodied with very impressive depth and concentration on the entry, a superb line of acidity and outstanding precision on the finish. This is clearly fulfilling its potential that it showed from barrel. The only drawback is that it might be unfairly overshadowed by the 2015 Pichon Baron! This will be one of those over-performing Pauillacs, perhaps like the 1990 Pichon Baron, that will delight for years to come."

Super-ripe black cherry, plum, smoke, tobacco and licorice all flesh out in the glass. This is a surprisingly ripe style for the vintage. Readers should give the 2014 at least a few years in bottle to come together."

Weiche Fülle im Auftakt, dann fleischiger Tannindruck, salzig unterlegt, dezente Säure, kraftvolle Struktur, fest extrahiert, aber auch füllig-weich grundiert. Kompakt, auf Potenzial vinifiziert, exzellente Dichte."

- 95 Punkte DECANTER: "A deep red colour leads into a voluptuous blackcurrant nose, poised, seductive and showing stylish oak. Rich but not overbearing, highly concentrated with explosive fruit and tannins. This has depth and stucture without undue extraction. Spicy, lively, and very long."

- 17+ Punkte JANCIS ROBINSON: "Dark crimson. So fragrant - delicate cassis, notes of graphite and a rocky/dusty inviting layer, opening up to ripe black fruit. Already complex on the nose. Rich, thick tannin texture, quite chewy but not tough as the grain is very fine. Embryonic still and long."

- 18 Punkte RENE GABRIEL: "80 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 20 % Merlot. 35 hl/ha. Extrem dunkles Purpur mit lila und violetten Reflexen. Zeigt viel Würze und wunderschön florale Noten, hier gesellt sich schon eine ganz schöne Prise Tabak dazu und eine Aromatik aus dem Untergrund, welche schwarzbeerige Konturen und Trüffel mit sich bringt. Im zweiten Ansatz, dunkle Pflaumen, Kaffee und schwarze Oliven. Im Gaumen dicht, noble Hölzer, viel schwarzbeerige Frucht, ein Hauch Bittermandel, im Finale zeigt sich die Strenge der muskulösen Tannine welche nach Integration mit dem weiteren Fassausbau verlangen. Drei Mal verkostet. Immer etwas robust empfunden."

- 95 Punkte JAMES SUCKLING: "Irony and smoky intensity on the very youthful nose. Really rich and tannic, but as it flows over your palate it becomes more and more suave and complex. This is a concentrated, long-term wine that demands some patience but should richly reward it. Try in 2022."
