- 94 Punkte und Grand Gold Medal FRANKFURT INTERNATIONAL TROPHY

- 92 Punkte WINE ENTHUSIAST, Roger Voss: "
On the plain of Saint-Emilion, this vineyard has produced a richly dense wine that also shows restraint and elegant tannins. The dominance of Merlot gives the bold black fruits and acidity. Wood aging adds spice and smoothness to the texture. This wine will be ready from 2024.“

- 92 Punkte JAMES SUCKLING: „A tight, linear red with blueberry and raspberry aromas and flavors. Medium to full body, with firm, silky tannins and a fresh finish. Tight now. Needs two or three years to open. Try after 2024.“

- VINOUS, Neal Martin: „The 2018 Palais Cardinal, aged for 18 months in oak, has a bouquet similar to the Le Palatin, featuring plenty of brambly red fruit infused with orange blossom and distant Alpine aromas, all showing good delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins that frame dark berry fruit laced with cedar and mint, lending it an almost Left Bank personality. Displaying good length, and quite fresh and vibrant, this should give a decade’s worth of drinking pleasure.“

- JEB DUNNUCK: „A floral, perfumed, elegant Saint-Emilion, the 2018 Château Palais Cardinal offers up attractive red and blue fruits as well as notes of spring flowers and candied orange, medium-bodied richness, and light, silky tannins. This is one for those who love the lightly textured, almost understated, floral side to Bordeaux (without it coming across as skinny or under-fruited). It has plenty of character and should drink nicely for 7-8 years.“

- 90-91 Punkte VertdeVin: „The nose is fruity and offers a small minerality as well as a fine power. It reveals notes of spices, fleshy cassis, fleshy blackberry and small notes of juicy wild raspberry associated with fine touches of nutmeg, flowers (cornflower…) as well as very discreet hints of grilled bread and an imperceptible hint of pepper. The palate is fruity, fresh, mineral, well-balanced and offers a mineral frame, a good finesse of the grain, a very fine richness as well as a juicy/crunchy fruit. On the palate this wine expresses notes of juicy blackberry, juicy cassis and small notes of juicy raspberry associated with small touches of fleshy/juicy small red berries, fine hints of flowers as well as very fine hints of sweet spices, almond, nutmeg and an imperceptible hint of coffee (in the background). Good length.“

- 90 Punkte Gilbert & Gaillard: „Beautiful young ruby. The nose offers up stellar quality fruit layered over subtle oakiness. The attack on the palate is smooth with a polished mouthfeel and soft tannins. This is a characterful wine showcasing remarkable quality fruit.“

- 90 Punkte TASTED Andreas Larsson, ehemaliger Sommelier Weltmeister: „Medium to dark core with a purple hue. Pure nose showing mild oak, wild berries and some peppery and herbal spice notes. The palate is well balanced with ripe tannin, rounded with elegant fruit, a supple texture and fine length.“

Unbedingt Dekantieren. Gabriel-Gold-Glas. 73 % Merlot, 23 % Cabernet Sauvignon und 4 % Cabernet Franc."

Notizen des Weinguts: Chateau Palais Cardinal is our main wine. According to the traditional methods to make a Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, we use a majority of Merlot, complete with Cabernet Sauvigon and Cabernet Franc. Aged during 18 month in oak barrels, the Palais Cardinal offers attractive black fruit ans incense notes on the well-defined bouquet. The palate is medium- bodied with a little oak on the entry, though it has an attractive supple texture, well-judged acidity and a comely, silky smooth finish. This long keeping wine is perfect to drink with red meat like beef ribs or duck.
