- 91 Punkte VINOUS, Antonio Galloni: "The 2018 Cuvée Ortolan, 100% Cabernet Franc done in a combination of concrete and demi-muids, is one of the larger-production wines in this range. It shows the lighter weight of Franc in its structure, although the aromatics are less expressive, at least today. The Ortolan does not have the super-expressive spiced quality that Franc often shows on the Right Bank, but it also avoids the bell pepper/vegetal qualities typical of lesser sites on the Right Bank and/regions such as the Loire. Sweet red berry fruit, spice, menthol and rose petal open and yet my sense is that the 2018 is only showing a hint of its potential. Pierre Lurton knows a thing or two about Franc, so there is every reason to think this cuvée will improve going forward.
These new releases from Pierre Lurton’s Marjosse estate highlight the personality of single blocks on the property and signal a shift towards more ambitious wines. It’s a propitious start to be sure."
- 17 Punkte JANCIS ROBINSON, Julia Harding: "Cabernet Franc is known locally as Bouchet. An ortolan is a member of the bunting family, 'once a prized delicacy of French banquets, eaten whole, crackly bones and all'. This wine pays tribute to the little bird that nests around the Marjosse estate. 25-year-old vines on clay-limestone. Aged 12 months, 50% in demi-muids, 50% in concrete vats.
Unnecessarily heavy burgundy-shaped bottle – a shape unusual in Bordeaux. Mid cherry red with pinkish rim. All the lovely freshness and herbaceous notes of Cabernet Franc shine here even in the riper 2018 vintage, with mouth-watering and delicious juicy dark-red fruits on the palate. Tannins are fine, dry, very slightly chalky but the whole is just a joyful whole. Dry finesse on the finish and great length."
- 91 Punkte DECANTER, Jane Anson: "A ton of character, liquorice, redcurrant, a touch of gooseberry and tobacco leaf, plenty of lift, and it should soften over the next year. Very light extraction but a long maceration (meaning they have used temperature rather than pumping over to extract what they want from the grapes). Just over 5,000 bottles produced. This is not a body builder by any stretch, rather it is elegant, spicy and fresh, strongly recommend, and a lovely introduction to 100% Cabernet Franc in this new range of wines. First time to release this year, and held back to be ready to go as soon as it is on the market. Aged in half cement, half 400l barrels. Drinking Window 2021 – 2024"

|Notizen des Weinguts:||Bouchet, synonymous with Cabernet Franc, is usually compare to finesse and elegance. This cuvée wants to express all its aromatic delicacy: notes of spices, pepper and raspberry, the palate is fresh, tense, carried by delicate tannins. Tasting Notes : The 2018 Ortolan fully assumes its personality with a delicate shiny garnet. The nose lets the fruit express itself, in particular redcurrant and wild strawberry, with peppery notes. Elegant on the palate, the tannins are silky and its fruity aromatic palette is nuanced by subtle floral notes like iris.
