Beschreibung

- 95 Punkte, James Suckling (07/2024): Plum stones, walnuts, orange rind and dried flowers on the nose. Some mocha and nutmeg. It’s medium- to full-bodied, polished and fragrant, with layers of spiced fruit framed by tight, very fine tannins. Long and evolving. Best from 2026.“

Sehr gelungen.- 2025-2040“

- 93 Punkte DECANTER, Georgina Hindle: „Cocoa powder-dusted blackcurrants on the nose, some baking spices and a gentle smoked aroma too. Round and generous on the palate, the tannins so sleek and fine, delivering a fresh, cool blue fruit flavour with a wet stone texture that almost cleans the tongue in its distinction. This has a dark mid-palate, the black liquorice and touches of bitter dark chocolate giving it a serious nature, while the fruit is more redcurrant and red cherry in nature. Together with the acidity, it keeps the overall frame vibrant. So many aspects of Merlot coming through in this vintage. Lots of energy here with a touch of cinnamon and clove spice on the finish giving detail. This will need time to come around, the austerity poking through slightly but extremely well structured. Drinking Window 2026 – 2048“- 93 Punkte, Wine Enthusiast (07/2024): “Aromatic strawberry and cherry aromas lead to a wine with ripe black tannins and dense texture. Tannins are underneath, giving it structure and concentration. Drink from 2027.“

- 93 Punkte FALSTAFF, Peter Moser: „Dunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, breitere Randaufhellung.

- 92+ Punkte, Parkers WINE ADVOCATE, William Kelley (02/2024): The 2021 Latour à Pomerol delivers a strong showing in bottle, unwinding in the glass to reveal aromas of minty dark berries, licorice, violets and pencil shavings, followed by a medium-bodied, fleshy and suave palate with good depth at the core, lively acids and powdery tannins that have integrated well with élevage.“

- 92 Punkte, Jeff Leve, The Wine Cellar Insider: Flowers, dark cherries, cocoa, and ripe, sweet black and red plums create the nose. On the palate, the wine is silky, fresh, soft and energetic, with layers of supple-textured, vibrant red fruits along with earthy nuances on the backend. Drink from 2024-2041.“

Notizen des Weinguts: Latour à Pomerol, which draws its name from the tower that adorns this charming château, was acquired by Mme Loubat, who also owned Château Pétrus, in 1917. Etablissements Jean-Pierre Moueix has farmed the vineyard since 1962. The vineyard is characterised by the diversity of its soils, which brings complexity and harmony to the wine: gravel and clay for a marvellous parcel next to the church of Pomerol; loam surrounding the château. The vineyard receives the same care applied to all Ets. Jean-Pierre Moueix properties: leafthinning and green-harvesting to allow for optimal grape maturity followed by a manual harvest. The wine ferments in concrete vats before being aged in oak barrels. Château Latour à Pomerol is known for producing generous, concentrated wines that strike a perfect balance between elegance and power. 2021 Vintage The 2021 vintage demanded careful attention throughout the year, but the challenge united the vigneronnes and vignerons who produced, thanks to their efforts, a crop of good quality. Fastidious vineyard work, a gentle approach in the cellar, attention to detail and judicious decision-making were key in producing charming, delicate, elegant wines. The rainy and mild winter brought on an early and uneven budbreak, between March 24th and 27th. This early development put the young buds at great risk of a spring frost, such as the one that occured during the nights of the 6th and 7th of April, when temperatures dropped to -3 and -4°C. Candles and wind machines allowed us to gain 2°C and avoid serious damage. Flowering unfolded very nicely at the end of May, but the heterogeneity from budbreak persisted. June and July were mostly gloomy with a few gorgeous hot and sunny episodes in the middle of each month. Veraison occurred slowly. August was dry and nearly caught up the summer’s lack of sunshine. Once veraison was complete, 70 people ‘compensated’ for nature’s deficiencies: almost 14 000 hours of vineyard work were dedicated to meticulous efforts (secondary shoot removal, leaf-plucking, green-harvest, grooming...). This work allowed us to achieve a homogenous crop of good quality. Harvest took place from September 23rd to October 1st under favorable conditions, with optimal maturity reached on most parcels.
