- 93 Punkte, Adrian van Velsen – vvWine.ch: “ (100% Merlot). Mittleres Rubin. Frische Nase, würzig und steinig, der Duft erinnert an einen Beeren-Tarte, etwas Hefeteig schwingt mit, auch Haselnuss. Der Gaumen ist präzis, saftig und frisch, straffes Tannin umgarnt die Frucht, diese ist auf den Punkt gereift, hallt im Abgang sehr lange nach. Gefällt mir dieses Jahr noch fast einen Tick besser als 2020. Sehr gelungen. (Verkostet "En Primeur" im April 2022.“- 92 Punkte FALSTAFF, Peter Moser: „Kräftiges Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, breitere Randaufhellung. Zarte rotbeerige Nuancen, Rote Johannisbeeren, frische Kirschen, ein Hauch von Mandarinenzesten. Straff, saftig, frische Kirschen, feine Tannine, sehr animierende Säurestruktur, mineralisch und anhaftend, toller Speisenbegleiter.“
- 93-94 Punkte JAMES SUCKLING: „A medium-to full-bodied red with vibrant acidity and firm, fine tannins. Bright and polished with berries, walnuts, spices and dried flowers. Milk chocolate, too. Spicy and pretty finish.“
- 92 Punkte DECANTER, Georgina Hindle: „Dark chocolate-laced wild berries on the nose, hints of fresh raspberries and touches of violet. This has a soft chew on the palate, the tannins giving a plumpness to the texture and giving the fruit a more pronounced, supple frame. This has a lovely refinement to it, the fruit has purity and a crystalline quality while there is depth on the mid-palate to go the long haul. Sleek yet layered with plenty of terroir markers in the soft chalkiness and graphite tone on the tongue. Everything feels in place with hints of Pomerol glamour and completeness. Great! Drinking Window 2025 – 2045“

- 91 Punkte JANE ANSON: „Tar, chocolate and black cherry. Slightly leaner than many vintages but recognisable Pomerol generosity as it opens, and one to look out for. No chaptilisation.“
- 89-91 Punkte VINOUS, Antonio Galloni: „The 2021 Lafleur-Gazin opens with a very pretty bouquet laced with the essence of crushed flowers, spice, sweet red cherry and blood orange. There’s good persistence, but the tannins are a bit nervous today. It will be interestuing to see what elevage brings here.“
- 89-91 Punkte VINOUS, Neal Martin: „The 2021 Lafleur-Gazin was picked 27 to 29 September. This has quite hogh-toned bouquet with kirsch and raspberry fruit, quite fresh, leaning towards the more opulent side oft hings. The palate is floral on the nose and nicely focused. There is a kirsch element that filters through with a generous cherry-tinged finish. This will be difficult to resist in ist youth.“

Notizen des Weinguts: | Situated on the northern edge of the plateau of Pomerol, nestled between Château Gazin and Château La Fleur-Pétrus, this wine has been produced by Ets. Jean-Pierre Moueix since 1976 for the Borderie family, owners since 1930. The Merlot vines (averaging 30 years of age), are planted on gravel and clay. The Cabernet Franc is planted on silt soils, which encourage a nuanced and full expression of this varietal’s character. The vineyard management and vinification are carried out traditionally and with great care, producing a plump, supple, fleshy wine with ripe fruit and silky tannins. Eminently approachable, even in its youth, Lafleur-Gazin is a delightful expression of the lighter style of Pomerol wines. 2021 Vintage The 2021 vintage demanded careful attention throughout the year, but the challenge united the vigneronnes and vignerons who produced, thanks to their efforts, a crop of good quality. Fastidious vineyard work, a gentle approach in the cellar, attention to detail and judicious decision-making were key in producing charming, delicate, elegant wines. The rainy and mild winter brought on an early and uneven budbreak, between March 24th and 27th. This early development put the young buds at great risk of a spring frost, such as the one that occured during the nights of the 6th and 7th of April, when temperatures dropped to -3 and -4°C. Candles and wind machines allowed us to gain 2°C and avoid serious damage. Flowering unfolded very nicely at the end of May, but the heterogeneity from budbreak persisted. June and July were mostly gloomy with a few gorgeous hot and sunny episodes in the middle of each month. Veraison occurred slowly. August was dry and nearly caught up the summer’s lack of sunshine. Once veraison was complete, 70 people ‘compensated’ for nature’s deficiencies: almost 14 000 hours of vineyard work were dedicated to meticulous efforts (secondary shoot removal, leaf-plucking, green-harvest, grooming...). This work allowed us to achieve a homogenous crop of good quality. Harvest took place from September 27th to 29th under favorable conditions, with optimal maturity reached on most parcels. |
