It reveals notes of creamy blackberry, ripe cassis, small notes of crushed strawberry associated with touches of small crushed black frutis, lily, violet, crushed violet plum as well as small hints of pepper and spices. The palate is fruity, elegant and offers freshness, a racy minerality, a small freshness, a fine gourmandize, a fine acidulous frame, finesse in richness, finesse in tension, a fine straightness, roundness as well as a fine creaminess. On the palate this wine expresses notes of creamy blackberry, pulpy/juicy cassis, small notes of fresh/ripe raspberry associated with small touches of lily, lilac, a racy minerality as well as hints of pulpy/fresh blueberry, fine hints of camphor, caramelization, toasted, chocolate and a very discreet hint of toasted/ripe hazelnut (in the background). Tannins are well-built.“

The palate is very well balanced with fine-grained tannins, and much more precise than recent vintages, leading to a harmonious, silky-smooth, almost tender finish. More polished than recent vintages, this Carbonnieux comes highly recommended.“

Excellent tannin framing. Best yet. 65% cabernet sauvignon, 25% merlot, 5% cabernet franc and 5% petit verdot. Try in 2026.“

- 94 Punkte JEB DUNNUCK: "The 2019 Château Carbonnieux sports a deep purple/ruby hue to go with a brilliant nose of red and black currants, spring flowers, spicy oak, and hints of tobacco. It's beautiful on the palate as well and is medium to full-bodied, has a seamless, elegant texture, ripe tannins, and a great finish. It's the finest wine I've tasted from this estate. The blend is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and the balance Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, all brought up in 40% new barrels. It’s well worth tracking down some bottles and will keep for two decades. 2022-2042."
