It does also have fine fruitiness and acidity but it is the shape that impresses. Given time, it will develop into an elegant wine. Drink from 2018."

- 90 Punkte FALSTAFF: "Frische Weichselkirschen, mit Brombeeren unterlegt, ein Hauch von Orangenzesten. Saftig, rund, dunkle Waldbeerenfrucht, ausgewogen, mineralisch und gut anhaltend, ein vielseitiger Speisenbegleiter."

-16,5 Punkte JANCIS ROBINSON:  "Our old friend, the stablemate of Ch Calon Ségur, of which the 2009 and 2014 have been wines of the week (the wine is now known simply as Ch Capbern). In view of some varied earlier tasting notes on this wine, I will be interested to taste it now. 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot vinified in a new cuverie. It's not a silly price ...
Deep garnet. More nuanced colour than many. This really does smell classy. Very juicy but with the stony background of any St-Estèphe. Softer than most vintages but definitely ready to enjoy already. Fresh and vigorous. Quite long. Nice wine, but I think the 2014 is better value. In the UK, however, you have to commit to a whole case whereas HH&C are offering the opportunity to buy by this by the single bottle."

- 17 Punkte RENE GABRIEL: "Dunkles Granat, recht satt in der Mitte, rubiner Rand. Florales Cabernetbouquet, defensive Süsse, erstaunlich intensive Aromatik, zeigt sich nobel. Herrliche Brombeerentöne, in all dem beginnenden Charme spürt man im Finale dann doch noch feine Saint-Estèphe-Körner. Spannender Wein aus gleichem Hause wie Calon-Ségur."
