Charles Smith
Charles Smith ist ein Quereinsteiger, der seine Liebe zum Wein über das Essen entdeckte. 2001 brachte er seinen ersten Wein heraus, den 1999 K Syrah. Seine Intention ist es, Wein zu erzeugen, die bald getrunken werden können und trotzdem Rebsorte und Lage wiederspiegeln.
2008 wurde K Vintners vom Wine & Spirits Magazine als “Best New Wineries of the Last Ten Years,” und als “Winery of the Year” im Einkaufsführer ausgezeichnet. 2009 wurde Charles Smith dann Winemaker of the Year im gleichen Magazin.
- JEB DUNNUCK, November 2019: "This is another formidable lineup from Charles Smith and Brennon Leighton, who have recently moved their winemaking facility from Walla Walla to just outside of Seattle. All of the pure Bordeaux variety blends/releases have been moved to the Wine of Substance label (also reviewed in this report), and the K Vintners label is reserved for Rhône variety releases. By and large, these are all not destemmed and brought mostly in neutral puncheons. As I’ve said in the past, these are the real deal and are brilliant wines."
