| Notizen des Weinguts: | Balance was the challenge in 2016, big, ripe wines threatened to become overripe and understructured, keeping the fatness of the fruit in check was the focus. A majority of the Syrah was aged in barrels with medium-plus toasting to accentuate the varietal’s savory, smoky nuances. In the final blend, Syrah sets the tone with deep black fruit and savory nuances. Vintage The Summer of 2016 was generally warmer than 2015, but that followed one of the wetter winters in the last 5 years, with nearly average rainfall after 5 consecutive years of drought. The results were good yields with big, concentrated wines. Softer acids and tannins than other recent vintages make these wine best consumed in their vibrant youth.
