- 98 Punkte Parkers WINE ADVOCATE, Erin Brooks (11/2023): „The 2020 Mourvèdre is blended with 12% Syrah and 2% Viognier. Grapes come from Andremily's new Slide Hill estate vineyard, the Alta Mesa Vineyard and Larner Vineyard in Santa Barbara County, plus the G2 vineyard in Paso Robles. It was vinified using 75% whole clusters and matured for around 21 months in 50% new French barriques and 600-liter demi-muids. It takes some time to reveal pure tones of star anise, tar, lilac and chocolate, which complement a deep core of boysenberry and blueberry fruit, and it gains in intensity and expression as it spends time in the glass. The palate offers highly concentrated, youthfully coiled fruit framed by powdery tannins and vibrant acidity, and it has a very long, layered finish. It will benefit from several years in bottle. 500 cases and a few magnums were made.“ Drink Date: 2028-2048

- 98 Punkte JEB DUNNUCK (08/2023): „More meaty, gamey notes of black raspberries, blueberries, ground pepper, and hints of iron define the 2020 Mourvedre, another incredibly powerful, intense wine that stays flawlessly balanced. It's concentrated, has ripe, polished tannins, and nicely integrated acidity, all making for an incredible expression of Mourvèdre. This closes down with air, so I'd recommend trying a bottle over the coming year or two or giving it 5-7 years in the cellar. This is an insanely gorgeous bottle of wine that should see its 20th birthday in fine form.“

- 97-99 Punkte Robert Parkers WINE ADVOCATE, Erin Brooks: „Not yet bottled, the 2020 Mourvèdre, blended with 12% Syrah and 2% Viognier, is already offering incredible varietal character and expression. Made using 75% whole clusters, fruit comes from several Central Coast vineyards including Alta Mesa (Santa Barbara County), G2 (Paso Robles), Larner (Ballard Canyon) and Slide Hill (Edna Valley). It will be matured for about 21 months, with 50% in new French barriques and 600-liter demi-muids and 50% in used barriques. Deep purple-ruby in color, the nose opens slowly to loamy earth, dried lavender, mint leaves and a pure, concentrated core of cassis and baked blueberries. The palate is bursting with layer after layer of perfumed fruit. It has a fine, silky texture, alluring meaty accents, bursts of fresh acidity highlighting its perfume and a very long, layered finish. It feels very complete on the eve of its bottling, scheduled for mid-August 2022 (I tasted this on May 25, 2022). Around 500 cases and a few magnums will be made; it will be packaged and sold as a three-bottle box set ($330), while magnums will be sold in a box set with the 2020 Andremily No. 9.“

- 97-99 Punkte JEB DUNNUCK (08/2022): „Not yet bottled, the 2020 Mourvedre is one heck of an impressive Mourvèdre, offering textbook savory red, blue, and black fruits as well as herbes de Provence, dry-aged beef, pepper, and some spicy, floral nuance. Full-bodied and opulent on the palate, with great tannins, it should have plenty of up-front appeal yet evolve for 15+ years in cold cellars.“

Notizen des Weinguts: The 2019 Andremily Mourvedre is a mouth wateringly delicious elixir comprised of 81% Mourvedre, 18% Syrah, and topped off with 1% Viognier. The 2019 leaps from the glass offering a head bouquet of smoked meats, ground pepper, boysenberry, blackberries, expresso, and plenty of Mourvedre funk. With a rich full texture, ripe tannins, and a lingering finish that goes on for more than a minute, this is one sexy Mourvedre. If you have not tried these wines yet we absolutely encourage you to do so, but you don’t have to take our word for it. Here is what Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Master of Wine and CEO of the Wine Advocate has to say about it….“I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: With the possible exception of Beaucastel (notably, their Hommage a Jacques Perrin label), there is likely no one in the world producing greater Mourvedre than Jim. It is a variety he has mastered as no other. For anyone who thinks they don’t like Mourvedre but is otherwise of fan of big, rich, decadent Rhone blockbusters, I urge you to try Jim’s astonishingly gorgeous take on this notoriously fussy grape.” We certainly can’t argue with someone with that impressive of a resume, nor would we want to.
