- 93+ Punkte, Parkers WINE ADVOCATE, William Kelley (12/2023): „Disgorged in November 2022 with one gram per liter dosage, Renoir's new NV Extra-Brut Grand Cru Le Terroir (2019 base) has turned out beautifully, wafting from the glass with aromas of sweet pear, orange, white flowers and buttery pasty, followed by a medium to full-bodied, pillowy and vinous palate with a concentrated core of fruit and a racy, chiseled profile, animated by a refined pinpoint mousse. It's a touch richer than its 2019 counterpart, but it remains nicely dynamic.“ Drink Date: 2023-2033

 The young Adrien Renoir took over this four-hectare domaine in Verzy a few years ago, launching his eponymous label in 2019. Working exclusively with estate fruit, he abandoned herbicides in 2015 and attained organic certification in 2020. Planting hedges and trees around and within his parcels, he's a pioneer of agroforestry in his sector. In the cellar, Renoir started out with one or two barrels and, appreciating the results, now vinifies everything in barrel, maturing his reserve wines in oak foudres. Winemaking here is artisanal, with ambient yeast fermentations, lees stirring and no temperature control. The wines are disgorged with jetting but without any added sulfites and dosed with MCR (moût concentré et rectifié, i.e., concentrated and rectified grape must). The style is vinous and gastronomic but with all the incisiveness that one expects from serious viticulture in terroirs such as these. Last year, I characterized Renoir as one of Champagne's brightest young talents, and these new releases only confirm that judgement.

Medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with a layered but tightly wound core of fruit that's girdled by bright acids and animated by a pinpoint mousse, it will reward at least a year or two on cork with greater range and plenitude, and it will live for a lot longer.“ 2021-2038

Lush with ripe fruit, the NV Champagne Assemblage Terroir Extra Brut is all about its pure and rich liqueur, which is hard to resist, offering aromas of Bing cherry, fresh peach, and dewy fresh flowers. Inviting on the palate, it is clean and lifted, with nothing heavy or imposing about it, and is balanced with a pillowy mousse. Drink 2024-2034.“

Dried flowerd, pear, spiece, mint and chamomile build nicely with time in the glass. This rich, vinous Champagne has a ton to offer. It is incredibly distinctive in this tasting.
